DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

pipe

pipe

the spec sheet with it should tell you what you need i.e jet kit, gaskets and any straps, or added hardware, plus you may have to remove the center stand, do not try and get bye with out jetting it, YOU WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE

Hey,
I just looked at the ebay picture of the pipe you won. That model came with a megaphone end pipe. I hope someone did not mix two different pipes? When you install, post a pic so we can see how it looks.

you think it is a mis matched set? They claim "new in box" 8O

I speak from expereince because I had one on my 1100. That is the right pipe but if your after performance its no good. It is made for a stock bike with no mods and does not need to be rejetted. The special coating that mine had flaked off after one ride.

OK now I'm confused. One says re-jet. The other, leave stock. I received the header today. No instructions. Does anyone know for certain what I need to do? How would I find out?

This is what my instructions said word for word.

"Congratulations! You have taken delivery on one of Vance & Hines newest product lines, the Pro Sport exhaust system. Engineered as a replacement line, Vance & Hines worked hard to make this system what you've been looking for. A system the fits right, looks great, and sells for less than what you'd expect to pay for a aftermarket system.Below are some of the features that make this system one of the best values on the market today

Mechanical baffle for quiet operation and zero maintenance
Vance & Hines engineered for an excellent fit and finish
smooth bend headpipes for improved performance
Reverse Flow baffle besign means No Jetting Required"

The rest goes on about how to install it which is simple so I'm not typing that part. But when I had this pipe on my 1100 for a week it made it really quiet compared to my old yoshi pipe. But your best bet is to try it out and do a plug read and go on from there.

Thanks, 2Fast4U. I'll slap 'em on and see what happens. I was thinking that I bought a pipe that was set up for pods and a re-jet. But maybe this will be better, since the bike is stock. I am further debating whether to even do the swap with the stock system, as there is nothing wrong with it... only 3,800 miles on the bike, no rust or scratches. I liked this pipe because it is the only one I have found that closely matches the charcoal grey original. All the other pipes I have seen are either crome or black. I should probably sell the V & H pipe and leave mine in original condition. It's probably the cleanest, lowest miles original '85 out there. To do or not to do........

If you have a like new condition set of stock pipes on the 1150, I would keep them. The engine match fit, performance, sound and quality of the stock pipes is far beyond V&H.

However, if you do insist on using an inferior product, :-) PM me and I'll probably buy your stock pipes.

Earl, you confirmed my thoughts. I think I will leave it alone. If it 'aint broke.....

Anyone need a V&H pipe?

Hmmm, I think I just talked myself out of a deal on a like new set of stock pipes. :-) :-)

A pipe that doesn't require re-jetting, isn't allowing the engine to breath any better than the stock pipes, & probably won't affect the preformance much at all. This can be a blessing, you can swap the pipes fairly easy, & quickly. Put the new pipe on when you're feeling sporty for the looks and sound of the 4 in 1. Put the stock pipes on when you're feeling a little more mature & going to visit your in-laws. To me there is a totally different feeling rideing with a 4 into 1 than with stock pipes. The bike as you describe it, should worth more $$$ with the stock pipes
