A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well, today I think I Scored. Found a set of vetter Bag mounts off a 82 GS1000 for my 82 GS850. God it's been a long hunt and shakeing bushes, but finally on my way to a set of hard bags for my bike. Of course no instructions and that's where the GS info experts come in. At this point no bags, only mounts, but I will find the bags one day. Anyway do any of you experts have any info on what I am up against, or am I ok ? If someone has some old instructions hanging around in ther libary an would make a copy, I'll gladly pay for them. Thanks all.

I'm now wondering if I'll have to fabricate something to mount GIVI hard cases on the side of my 80 GS850. I'm pretty sure that, given a normal tubular luggage rack off the back, GIVI makes a kit for mounting a topcase, but I'm far less sure about generic sidecase mounting hardware...

I will look around and see if I can find the instructions for my hardbags ... mine were for an 1100G, but I suspect they're identical.

Good Luck!

I have instructions for an <81 850GX. The only difference in the instructions would be the way you mount the saddlebag bracket to the passenger footpeg.

The passanger footpeg assembly changed on the 82 850G. Up till 81 the passanger footpeg was mounted to welded tubing on the frame. In 82 Suzuki got rid of the welded tubing and installed a nice aluminum bracket that bolted to the frame. Let me know if you want the info and I'll get it out to you.

Not a problem Frank! The instructions were sent out today and hopefully it will arrive this week.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and good luck with getting the brackets on. I'm sure you won't have any problems.

Glad you scored instructions! I know I have mine somewhere, but haven't come up with them yet.
