A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Maybe we should have the gs rally...:)
I like a lot of the people in the video state...moved here from Ontario ten and a half years ago. Best move I ever did. I'm very proud of where I live. Sure there are down sides to living on an Island (ferry costs real estate costs etc.) but the benefits for me far out weigh that stuff.
I am so thankful for my family and friends that I have made while living in a paradise.

Yes the video maybe a bit sappy.... :)

Been there, can't wait to go back. The ferry ride is a commute to you, but travels there, this time of year, on the ferry deck in a light jacket, was overwhelmingly beautiful. Breakfast at the Blue Fox set the tone and culture of the trip.

You are right to be proud. What is the cost of living like compared to Vancouver? I suppose that's a broad question.

Vancouver Island

Vancouver Island

I've never been to Canada...looks beautiful as does that entire region. Thanks for sharing Trevor.

Ha ha ha! I was doing ok with the vid until I saw the tugboats in the breakwater segment, yuck! In all seriousness The Capital City is a beautiful place, I lived there for many years and have some great memories. I think some of the best were meeting up with Trevor, Rob, Dave and a host of other old motorcycle types. A terrific community for sure. Add to that the fact that it has some of the best microbreweries in Western Canada and it becomes even more attractive. But I'm a small town boy at heart, so I'm glad I had the experience, I know I'll have good visits every now and then. :)

Isn't Victoria Island north of the artic circle? Everyone seems to be dressed rather lightly.

Hey...hey.....hey. Nothing to see here folks....move along....move along. Ok....we'll take you and Chris, Charlie but that's it.

Geography Lesson for you Rob S. Just north of Washington State which is not the Arctic Circle.

Take this seriously :p I made an effort to: copy/save/crop/add arrow/upload/copy pb link/reply to this thread to do so. All in a day's work--on Christmas Eve even!

Thanks for the laugh!!!! I needed that.

Stetracer...Alabama and Florida are far superior to Victoria. Especially.... Mobile and West Palm beach:cool-new:

Got it. You guys are talking about Victoria on Vancouver Island. I was thinking of Victoria Island, which is way up there.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Right you are stetracer...Last year we took our son to Butchard Gardens and we were sitting on a hill waiting for the fireworks to start and we started listening to all the conversations around us. People were speaking German. Italian, Japanese, French..etc. etc....I said to my son..."never forget how lucky you are to live in a place that people will save all their lives to visit your backyard"...hopefully that will stick with him.:)

I was a born and raised Vancouverite,it seems like such a small move compared to some but it is sure a different place than Vancouver.Smaller and more compact for sure.I just love it!

When my family and I climbed all the way to the top of Yosemite Falls, I pointed out the same thing to them as we were the only ones climbing that were speaking English.

I had a job that took me to Mobile and Vancouver / Victoria, often it was warmer in that part of BC than South Alabama in winter, granted also a bit more regular drizzle.
