    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Vm 28mm carbs Horror....

I got another set of Vm28s for my Gs1085s, I have got to be plonker of the week stripped
them down to get them cleaned,then knocked them off my bench and in the progress, i have snapped the little brass tube which goes into the float bowl,please dont tell me i cant
put a replacement one in and they are goosed.........
every thing seems to be going wrong for me at the moment Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrhhhh......
 
No chance you can solder it back on Steve? Either that or just block it off - it's 'only' the overflow.
 
The fuel will start leaking out of the gasket anyway so as long as the float valve and seat are good (and you block the busted pipe up so it can't leak) it won't do any harm.

The CV carbs never got these overflows anyway.
 
The brass tube ? It is the fuel pick up for the choke. Not absolutely necessary. You can make one if needed or solder the broken one together. Get some brass tube - hobbie shop
Put it in a vise and grab the broken piece with some vise grips and twist- it should come out. It is a pressed fit. You may need to solder the end closed and drill a small hole depending on style of the tube.

thanks Guys ,you have cheered me up lots....
it snapped off flush with casing, so can drop a spot of solder in the hole..........
now I got to find a bunch of keys, I lost aswell not my day.....
The small Tube i mean is the one at right hand side of carb at the front ,where carb goes in to mounting rubbers its about 30mm long or so........

The small tube I mean is the one at the front of carb in right hand corner of carb ....
it has a pin hole small hole in it.....
 
if you turn carb upside down take the float bowl off. its the tiny little one in the right hand side of carb its the brass tube right next to the out side front carb bowl screw hole......
none off the other bowl screws are near anything...
 
Lyn was right - that's 'the other one', the enrichment (choke) pick up tube. No need to seal it. All it will mean is that you won't get any choking effect on that carb when you start up - should start ok on the other 3 carbs.
