A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

VM29mm smoothbores question about vacuum/overflow lines.

That screw is the slide stop. its used to prevent the slides from opening too far at full throttle. If the slides go too far up, the cut away looses effect and spoils the vacuum in the venturi. At full throttle the gap between the top of the carb throat and the bottom rim of the slide is about 1 MM.

the screw you are pointing at is a stop for WOT. stops the slides opening too far. wont have any effect on idle

I am mystified then about the idle. Not sure how to re set the WOT stop now either.

Ok I am done for the day before I have a nervous breakdown. I ended up NOT taking them off to bench sync again, I just started backing them out the same amount all the way across, and that allowed me to increase the idle knob and get it up around 3500 rpm. I got all of them pretty even.

When I turned the idle down, it really didnt want to idle at less than 1500rpm and......

.... I noticed burp every once in a while and noticed on the gauges it was the number 3 carb.

(I dont know if it is related, but I had pulled the plugs and cleaned them earlier today and noticed number three was oilier looking than the rest.)

May be an ignition related blurp. Guess you can trim the wire and screw the cap into frdesh wire and maybe throw in a cleaner plug to see what it does then.

Well it looks like I am going to need to order the #25 pilot jets now. Chuck came down and got these babies sync'ed nicely but I am getting burps, hiccups or maybe backfires (seems like burps from the carbs). Seems to run good flat out though.

Cheapest place to get them? Anyone have extra set?

Z1................

And as I told you when i was dialing in, I had to turn the adjustment screws in a long was to get the carbs to not be lean at idle RPMs. This is why i suggested going up one size on the pilot jets. So that being said, when you change the jets you are also gonna need to readjust the side mixture screws. Use your Colortune and do it like i showed you.

And I also think the bike will run so much better if you get rid of those pods.

Also, when you rejet, take a few minutes and take the side adjuster screws out and be sure the tiny hole in the tips are open with the bread tie wire. remember I showed you they have a hole in them??????
