All the guages I've seen on ebay have no backing that covers the connectors. What did you use for that? Or did your gauges already have it?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The same holds true for the VDO's gauges; the black circular housing was sold seperately and was not designed to be waterproof application. Sorry my camera is dead, the VDO gauge has a long threaded stem that extends thru the back of the circular housing. A nut on the back cinches the assembly and secures the gauge to circular housing. The 3 electrical wires exit from another hole directly below. I put a dab of clear RTV around the wires to seal the openings
Here is a plug for Renobruce. The black circular housing is the same housing that Renobruce uses in his VDO Oil Temperature kits. That's the cheap part.

Actually the VDO pricing is not that bad...if you know where to look !!
The older VDO gauges found in the older VW Sciroccos, GTIs, Jettas,
and Cabriolets all have these awesome VDO gauges with sending units.
You will find them on the shift console with three VDO gauges. I have
bought these on Ebay, but they are 30-year old junk. I recommned
buying these brand new as the price for these would probably be the same if you were to buy on Ebay used with the shipping factored-in.
These VDO gauges are cheap at $25 ea. and are exactly like the
older VW VDO gauges but brand new. It also has a different mount
in the back. They are the standard 2 and 1/16th" diameter.
I just put these gauges on my GS1150 and found a great spot for
them without having to use the individual housing pods for them, or
the 2-3 hole VDO bracket. It looks clean, custom, and different.
The sending units you can get at any VW shop, especially the 300F
or 150C range for the oil temp. I used a VDO "T" fitting for this
application and plumbed it into the oil temp sending unit right behind
the cylinder block. The oil pressure is tricky on these VDO gauges
because the positive oil pressure low from 5-12psi. The bars on these
VDO oil pressure gauges are 20psi each, and not within the range and
specs of our Suzuki bikes. I may get around this by buying the 0-15psi mini VDO gauge that you can bolt-on on the side case of the engine.
Griffin, there is a three-prong female connector that plugs into the 3
male gauge connector in the rear. This is the only "cover" unless you
use the individual black pods or housing pods.

I installed mine on the fairing. It's a MW that I bought at Advance Auto. It's not totally sealed, has a button on the front for changing the backlight color, all the times it's been wet it now changes colors on it's own whims. I've had it on there for over two years though and it works fine.
