DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello,
Thanks in advance for your information. I've read several posts and found the answer to my rear w/drum brake wheel - late 70's GS550 rear wheel has drum and wire. What about the front wheel? What make and model from wheel will fit my 81 GS650E - want drum up front or at least. I would settle for a one disc set-up but would rather have the drums.

I know. I really do know so don't bother... a drum will suffice. Besides this bike is for my personal vanity. I like the look of spokes and drums. It also gets rid of that unsightly box of my bars. I am a bicyclist who happens to ride motorcycles. I only need the two levers on my bars.

You should be able to get a set of wires from a GT380/550/750 two stroke
& adapt them fairly easy. I remember the 380 I had was drum-drum. It stopped for sh$t

I have wires on my bike, front and back. Single disc on the front and drum brake on the back. It is a 1977 GS550B model.
Cheers.

Thanks all.

Thanks all.

I will no go to parts since I know what i am looking for - and sell my rims.

There was a 400 model of some sort that had a drum on front. 18" wheel though instead of 19".

Pretty silly swap but to each their own. Function follows form - reminds me of a Harley.

my 1978 gs400x has drums front and rear, also has no electric start. Can you say base model?

I like the look of drums as well.I'd like a cafe with Grimeca's both ends(it'll be just after my lucky numbers come up),but anything else......??Now,I know that you know that we all know the same thing. When the excrement hit's the rotating wind generator, drums aren't worth snot unless they're pretty flash ones.Good luck though, cause I like 'em to.Cheers,Simon.:-D
