I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Weird "lurch" when accelerating in 2nd

Not sure what's causing it. Bike runs great, for all intents and purposes. I only notice the "lurch" when I'm accelerating *hard* through 2nd gear. I'll get up to about 5k or so, it'll "lurch", then finnish accelerating throug the rest of the gear just fine. Any ideas?

That sounds like what's going on when my clutch is slipping. After the fluid finally slings out of the plates, the clutch seems to grab somewhat suddenly. Does this happen if you shift into 2nd without the clutch?

It happens whether I've gone into second with or without the clutch. I wouldn't think that it's the clutch itself though, because all the other gears grab just fine, and indeed 2nd itself is fine before and after the "lurch." If the clutch was slipping, it'd be happening in more than just 2nd.

It's just in second when this happens?

Is the bike good and warm when this happens, or does it happen all of the time?

I *think* it may have happened once or twice in third, but that would have been last season, and I can't remember. For all intents and purposes, it's only in second, whether or not the engine is warm, and it's only when I'm wide open throttle accelerating.

So, what exactly is a "lurch"?
An increase or decrease in power?
A misfire?
Sudden increase and decrease in RPM like a gear popping out for a second and back in, or a gear dog skipping into the next hole?
Something that you feel, or that you just hear?
Guessing games are for little kids.

Hrm... I'll try to describe it best I can...

Okay, so I'm accelerating wide open in first, get up around 9K, shift into second, back deep on the throttle, then around 6K or so, there's almost like a hiccup; I can feel the bike, um... "hitch" I would think is the best word for it. The RPMS drop a bit back, perhaps not even 500 or so, then everything just picks right back up where it left off before the occurrence - steadily climbing in RPM, with the bike pulling all the way up the rev range, right into the shift into third.

It'd almost feel like you hit a bump in the road or something, but only felt it on the back tire, and your tired lost contact with the road for a split second. Now, I'm not saying that's what it physically feels like, lol. Just that wierd "wait, my bike's not pulling", *clunk*, "Oh wait, yes it is."

Does it go clunk?

Run a can of Seafoam through it and see what happens. Seafoam fixes everything. :-D

Okay, change of story. =) I just went out for a ride to get a more exacting idea of when it happens. If I redline first, I'm at about 7K when I go into second. It hitches just a bit after I shift, then again at 8K, then again around 9k.

Aaaah, SeaForm. Proof there's a god of things with engines. =) Should I just run some through the gas, or do the whole "white smoke awesomeness" treatment? LOL

There are many. You must sacrifice a chunk of knuckle skin and a shot glass of 2 stroke oil to them before performing routine maintenance.
You don't want to anger the gods, my friend.
Fear them.

Sounds like a fuel delivery thing to me. If your RMPs are dropping, that kinda rules out a clutch slip.

Float bowls ok?

Run a hot load of seafoam through the gas. See what happens.
Can't hurt anything.

Are you running pods? My Skunk had the same symptoms from over-oiling my pod filters. It only happened at WOT. Or check your filter to see if it's dirty. Or do some chop tests at WOT and read your plugs.
