    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

so guys i went to repaint my tank so as i dismounted her i set the fuel on "prim" which i thought was off so gas went straight out the hole and i was like great now i have a broken petcock... as im filling up the bucket for like 5 minutes i decide to change the position onto "on" and "reserve" both settings STOP gas from leaking completly!!! i was like wtf how does gas even come out when i ride with it in the "on" position... does the engine suck the gas out or something? im confused
 
it has a diaphragm that is vacuum operated. turning the petcock to prime bypasses the diaphragm, thus allowing the gas to flow freely. (i.e. to prime the carbs if they don't have fuel in the bowls)

If you look at the petcock, there are three hoses connected, 1 is the fuel line, 1 is a vent, and 1 is the vacuum line that supplies vacuum once the engine is started.:)

Close, but not quite. :-k

The fuel and vacuum lines connect to the petcock. The third line is not a vent, it is a "safety" drain line. It is connected to a funnel that covers the gauge opening to catch any drips that might happen, and conduct them away from the top of the hot engine. :o

Funny post. By your use of the word "like" two times in three lines I take it you are young. Consider yourself educated on how a petcock functions now.:)

hahah the thing that is not funny is that im gonna have to take all the bondo off my tank and repaint that my tank repainting process, it is a disaster/nightmare

I had a pet dinosaur, but the whole dirt thing has me beat!! :)
 
Also, skip that whole Bondo thing. Buy a new tank on ebay, have it blasted down to bare steel, soak it in Vinegar to remove the rust inside, then have it painted.

Been there done that. Graduated from the school of hard knocks!!:)
