    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am in need of someone to duplicate a header that I currently run on my 1100ESD. Its pretty ratty, pitted, rusting, dented on the bottom... I have stripped it, wire wheeled it and repainted it, but that lasts about 2-3 weeks at a time. First good rain i get caught in will start it back to looking bad. I REALLY REALLY love the pipe (its an old SuperTrapp header and can) and I have a couple of other headers to play with for the time being, but they just dont sound or perform the same (the mid pipe and can on this pipe are in good shape, and they are also a bit larger than most, helping the top end nicely) At any rate, Ive been sort of looking locally, but most places use benders that will "notch" the pipes like a car exhaust. I think that looks bad personally. All i need remade is the head pipes to the collector. I am perfectly willing to send the header to anyone interested in doing it to copy, and we can talk about material type and price etc... If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.. thanks!

Isn't that supertrapp pipe stainless? I have a perfect supertrapp system on my GS1100E with absolutely no dents at all and its stainless. Very hard exhaust to find and she's a keeper even if I sell the bike. I would stay away from automotive shops, look into a custom motorcycle exhaust company or something.

No, the header back to the can isnt stainless. Its not one of the OLD OLD ones, looks to be a more recent pipe with a SuperTrapp slip on..I was kinda bummed about that except for the fact that from the collector back the mid pipe is 2.5 inches in diam whereas most headers that i have or have seen are 2 inches at most. I have the pipe off of the bike right now in favor of a VH pro pipe that Mike Riddle has up here and let me play with, and the loss to the top end rush is VERY noticeable. With the VH the bike is a little more torquey down low, but the retro rocket like blast off at 6K is nearly gone. Needless to say, i like the Trapp pipe alot, and want to retain it, especially because its also an underbelly pipe, which are getting harder and harder to find. At any rate, If i can find someone to duplicate it i will be very happy.

I would probably go another was as the pipe you are talking about is probably $500-$600+ just for mild steel. Maybe much more for stainless. U can probably use the can with some other header. Call if U wanna discuss options.

Can't you just take what you have and get it re-coated.

I just sent the headers off my drag bike to get stripped and re-cerachromed. They were rusted pretty bad, but the the guy said they will look like new when I get them
It's going to cost about $200...

Really? I was told by the few people I asked that it wouldnt get rid of the pitting and that the texture would still be seen. Also, two of the pipes are kinda dented where the bike was bottomed out at some point. Not horrible, and you cant see it on the bike, so i guess its not that big a deal. Where did you send your stuff to?

Good points on the pitting and dents, I don't have that so I don't know.
I won't have them back for a couple of weeks, but I can post some before/after pics then.

I sent them to a place in Yorkville, IL., http://powder-coat.net/ It is more expensive then some, but I got a recommendation.
Some places I checked were in the $150 range.

If they come back nice, I'm going to send the pipes off the red street bike and have them black cerachromed.
