A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What are these off of?!

I have a set of Mikuni BS32SS carburetors that I nabbed off an old CB750/Four.

The spacing is 75 x 81 x 75 (giver take a mm)

I think they're Kawasaki or Suzuki in origin, but I want to pinpoint what exactly they're from. The only thing written on them is the 140 stamped on the butterfly...really helpful.

Any ideas?

Post a pic and someone will help. All the hondas that I've seen had Keihins. Spacing would be different if it was converted to a honda 4.

I know they weren't stock on the Honda...or else I'd know what they were for.

They're BS32S's.

look just like these...only a few mm different in spacing:

Can you still see a serial number on the bodies anywhere? Someone aroundhere (maybe Steve?) had a list of serial numbers and which bikes they came on. For instance we deduced Roses old 550L's carbs originally didn't come on that bike, as they're stamped for a 650.. According to his list.

I can't find a serial number...no numbers at all except the 140 on the butterflies. Where are these numbers at usually? I've got a bucket of carburetors that I can't sell becuase I don't know what they're from...if they've got serial numbers on them I'd be extremely excited.

I got a set off a 82 650, the throttle plates have 135 stamped on them.

It might mean something different I guess...my BS32SS throttles from my 1981 GS750E have 135 stamped on the butterflies, too.

The mystery set have 140.

Usually they're "inked" into the top of the body around the head where the diaphragm sits. On the outside though. I've got a few sets some you can still see, some ya can't.
I think the number on the butterfly plate is the part or "jet" number for the plate itself.
I'm gonna guess they're off a 850. That's the biggest bike that had 32s on it. I've got a box full of carbs to try to identify and see what's good and what isn't.

Yanno, that reminds me... I have a set off a XS yammaha that I swear had 140 butterflies. You said they aren't spaced for a GS... Wonder if they're off a yammie?

Yeah there's no inking on them. I don't know how ink could ever hope to stay on them.

I thought that the GS850 used the same spacing as the GS750's? My BS32SS carbs from my 1981 GS750 have a wider stance than these mystery carbs. They're spaced nearly the same as a 1976 CB750/Four....I think that would actually put them in the Kawasaki category but I don't really know for sure. Did any later model GS's have the BS32SS's on a narrower rack? What about the 650's? Are they the same as the 750's or narrower?

My spare 650 carbs (either L or G) have about 3" spacing between carbs 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. Between 2 and 3, centerline spacing is about 3.2.
