I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

if i roll on the throttle slow the bike seems to run well, if i get on it quick its a dog.

Hi,

Your symptoms could be caused by dirty carbs, improper jetting, leaky air intake system, over-oiled air filter, perhaps even a bad petcock or pinholes in the carb diaphragms. We'll need some more information as to what maintenance or modifications you've performed.

Have you gone through the maintenance lists in your "mega-welcome"? Most of that stuff is pretty much mandatory if you want to have a safe and reliable bike.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

i can rule out everything but the jetting. that is what i have been working on. the 130's were not good and the 124's are better but not great either. i think i need something in between.

Pinholes in diaphragms are known to cause all manner of issues.

If you have 124s, you don't have stock jets.

Stock jetting sizes came in increments of 2.5, so you would have 120, 122.5, 125, 127.5, 130.

Instead of guessing what you need, do some plug chops and do what your plugs tell you they want.

Besides some of the possibilities listed above, I will add another question, do you have any air filters on the carbs?
You need to some some restriction on the intakes for the slides to operate correctly.

.

Everyone have given you 8rt advice. I will add the following points:

1) Unless you are doing wide open full throttle roll ons the mains are not coming into play. Mains are 3/4 and up

2) You didn't state whether you have disassembled and dipped the carbs? That process will help you evaluate the internal components like pinholes in diaphragms, plus ensure everything is berryman clean.

For me to offer any suggestions I would need a little more info.

For example, if you're going along at say 45 miles an hour in high gear and quickly twist the throttle to 1/2 way, does it bog out then "catch back up" or will it eventually stall?

Or is the problem when you are ripping through the gears as another example.

Or if you're reving along at 5000rpm and twist it does it die............

(I'm useing my inside voice now. You can't hear me..............)

In my experience, if the engine responds with polite input but refuses to cooperate on agressive throttle, a large volume vaccum drop is the cause. No vacuum...no air flow...no air flow...no fuel...

The engine can keep up with the air flow while gingerly increasing the throttle opening because the change in air flow is small, but if the throttle opening is increased quickly, there is not enough fuel to keep the engine firing to keep up with the air coming in....... too mutch air and not enough fuel.

(OK, I'm useing my outside voice now....)

Do some drivability tests and try to figure out under what conditions you have the problem. You will get closer to the fix with every test. These guys are good.

I don't know if any of it helpped at all but I had fun writing it...........

Hi,

Mr. quikvrsixx has another thread in which he is trying to tune his Dynojet 3 setup. That is why he mentions 130 and 124 jet sizes. It's another case of multiple threads for the same issue. :o

Thanks, BassCliff. Although I see a LOT of the posts that go through here, I don't see them all, and (like most others, I'm sure), I did not bother to do a little research by looking up all his past posts to see if he mentioned anything about non-stock jets.

Quick question (since you know about the other thread): was that incorrectly posted in one of the many other sub-forums? I have been noticing a LOT of posts lately (mostly in the Motorcycle Discussion Forum) where newbies are asking questions about their bikes are are told that "this belongs in the Tech Forum". Well, it would seem to me that, if you wanted to discuss something about your bike, you would go to the Motorcycle Discussion Forum, right. :-k

There are times (many of them) I miss the "old" board. :o
