A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

What Color For Wheels and Fork Sliders?

In my continuing saga of making my 1100E look good again, I am at the point of picking colors for the wheels and fork sliders. The bodywork will be white base with red trim and the engine is natural aluminum. The pipe will be all black and I am running pods. I think black wheels and fork sliders will offset that nicely, keeping the theme of dark colors on the lower half of the bike and making the bright engine finish and the white paint stand out more.

Second part, should I powdercoat them or just paint with a 2 part urethane? Flat, semi-gloss or gloss finish?

Any other thoughts/ideas/comments?

Thanks,
Mark

1 vote for black powdercoat! Masking off the 'spoke' sides and polishing them later looks pretty sharp too, if you don't mind going the extra mile. ;)

They are done like that now, with maroon paint in the star and the sides shiny. I am not really a fan of that, but I am thinking of leaving the polished rim and simply painting the inner star area black. The polished rim would match up to the engine cases and offset the black some.

Maybe I will clean them up and then try a quick enamel base/clear job to see how it looks and then if I like it, blast them and powdercoat for a permanent answer. Hmmm, that might be the best way to go thinking about it...:-k How much are a couple of spray bombs anyway??:D

Thanks,
Mark

Sounds good too....and much easier to clean/maintain than a polished 'star'.

Tony.

I like the idea of the polished bits on the rims. Don't do all black. I hate that look. Makes the wheels look dirty.
