what did you wrench on today??

Roger, your pics aren't showing at least on my pc. Anybody else not able to see the pics?

Replaced my brake pads and installed a nice little GPS speedometer on the top of my existing speedometer and tach. The old clocks were running 7 MPH slow at 25 MPH and got a lot slower at highway speeds. It's nice to have an accurate speedometer again. It does all sorts of things, you can set it to show time, voltage, trip mileage, change the refresh rate, etc.

So I had to find a new car after my 2010 HHR was declared a total loss?!!!!!
Looked at a few cars, really wanted another HHR or Ford Focus. All the HHRs are 10 years old and have more than 70,000 miles.
Found a 2014 Focus with 19,700. Lovely.
Bought and bolted on a new trailer hitch from Curt;
i bought a 14 focus st-3 last year... my best investment so far! has a little over double the miles yours has, and is holding up very well. all the interior still fits like and looks new, no squeaks or rattles and drives like a brand new car

The ZX3 was a great handling car that did well in autocross and rallycross when it came out. The SVT Focus was a fabulous car to drive, but that particular motor was cursed.

I drove a Focus all over Ireland and really enjoyed that car.

Ooooo, got some of pics of those??

More like 2 days... Still need to finish up some but I painted the pourch and the trim of my new house...

Before pic is what it looked like when we moved in...(just taken in March)

After about 20 hours of paint work and vinyl cleaning:

I also replaced a toilet in our half bath with a Kholer (huzzah for having an interior designer for a fiance)

Still have some more trim to paint on the backside of the house. The pourch tied me up with scraping and painting...

The whole ladder thing is something to get used to.

Hooray for home ownership!

Gustafsson came through for me of this new windscreen. The hole weren't drill as advertised, but they provided a free drill bit and scratch restorer and polish as compensation. Great company and appreciate my corny complaint about being promised something holy! (test, 1st photo with flickr)

Nice Charlie! Flickr is working well I see too :)

I didn't end up taking any pic's (sacrilege I know!) but the battery box mount decided to part company with the frame on the 450 during our ride on Saturday morning and it was just hanging on by the front mount with the wires supporting it

Welded it back on yesterday and decided while I had the rear guard out I'd plastic weld that together too (from where it split rolling back into the concrete wall at work) so that's all sorted as well. Haven't road tested the repairs yet but will do at some point soon.

Quite a busy weekend working on the bike. Saturday morning de-greased the engine then pulled the fairing and bracket, seat, tank, airbox, carbs, cam cover and got to work.

My to do list was;
Front brake light switch
Replace cam end plugs and cam cover gasket
Inspect/ adjust valve shims as needed
Clean and oil air filter
Replace cracked breather hose
Pull float bowls off carbs and re-install stock 115 main jets (110's were too lean and in spite of adjusting mixture screws plugs still a little white-ish)
Replace float bowl gaskets
Re-seal airbox ends
Change engine oil and filter

And in a perfect world do all of this before it gets to be 100?F in the garage. Well, did what I could yesterday, then after church today. Way too many hours, man I'm a slow mechanic! Forgot to get new spark plugs so have to sync carbs and finish up ma?ana!

Finally got the rear tire replaced on the ZRX. Went with a Michelin Pilot Road 4. Plugged previous tire and when it started leaking again it was time for a new one. Cleaned up the drive chain. Detailed her up when I was done. Any body ever use this stuff? https://www.amazon.com/Lear-Chemical-ACF50-Anti-Corrosion-Lubricant/dp/B000P1C8UO A must have lube to have around for its intended use and for detailing anything black. Got a little ride in before work today.

Woohoo, all back together! I made a mistake last time and used blue permatex on the half moons. It weeped a bit of oil but not too bad. This time permatex ultra black. 15 mile ride and no leaks. Hope it stays that way! Carbs like the bigger jets. Ill recheck the plugs after some more miles.

How are you using it for detailing?
Does it act like a cleaner/polish?
It will remove light corrosion and stop it from returning. Works like really nice on anything black. Frames, cables, wire harness Inner fenders too. Wipe it with clean rag when done, it will attract more dust than Amour All. Guys on the ZRX forum are using it on chains with very good results. Lets see if I can post a pick. Bear with me. Nope, won't let me. Sorry.

Next time, try Threebond or Yamabond. No more leaking.

In light of recent posts concerning. Pipes and lives, I thought I would save a few then go quiet. So yesterday I installed a different exhaust system. Here's the new pipe. Its to quiet. The member from Vermont worded it perfectly, thank you. On the other hand, its another look, period correct, looks sharp and now I can take it to work at 5 in the morning.

I used to pick up cans of Boeshield for a couple bucks when the Boeing Surplus store was open. Kind of a waxy encapsulating sort of stuff. Worked great on the boat to prevent salt water damage.

I have a pipe that looks just like that, but is soo loud.
Think PO did some chopping, the can is only 10" long.
Did you have to make custom engine brackets to fit that engine or is it 16V frame with 8V bodywork?

Yes its is a 16v frame and 8v body work. My original race bike was just the opposite. The loud pipe I removed was pointed right at my helmet. Poor engineering on my part. Ill re-invent it when when it gets used again.
