A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What glue for side casing badges ?

Don't know why you'd put the old ones back on. New ones abound on eBay. $40 or less for the pair. Not sure what that is in quid. New ones come with a 3M type of tape on the back. If you're going to re-use the old ones, I'd look for a similar type of double stick tape.

Reason is
a) saves money
b) no interest in a clinical new look bike
and old original bits always kept , made good
and replaced where possible.

These ones were glued on and I got them off
with a heat gun.
What glue ? But yes I can easily use double sided
tape if stuff I have makes it sit flat

Try an auto parts store. I think they sell the tape in small sheets or rolls for installing trim. Don't know how well that would handle the heat but if the trim stays on a black car in the Arizona heat it should be alright.

Yep, the originals use a thin sort of trim tape.

Unless they're very damaged, you can strip, polish and re-paint these badges and get them looking quite nice. Some things are a lot easier to do with the badge mounted to the engine cover.

You could also find a way to make a thin aluminum circle the right size and design your own.

Amazing timing... I was just about to put on with
gorilla glue and checked this thread.
Stopped. ordered double sided trim tape ebay 2?.

If you spray that badge with some engine paint and then take a sanding block and kiss the top of the lettering to remove the paint the badge will look really nice.

Had to re read and re read that post ... but yep get it
re recon of badge.
I have left as is to keep character.

Trim tape used and 4 small sections holds it firmly. ideal.
