    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What is the difference in e and es?

Hey guys, I am totally new to these boards! I am so happy when there is a place like this for my toys! I just got myself a 1983 GS750E today, and it needs some parts. I got it as a project. I am just wondering if the parts off of a 1983 gs750eS will fit on my 1983 gs750E? What was the difference in these two bikes? The last bike I resurected was a 1995 Suzuki Savage. That is a fun bike, but I can't wait to get this GS going. I need a new key switch, brakes, and some wiring stuff...

PS I am not sure that this is the 83 model, it was build on 12/1982, and it has the square headlight and full floater rear suspension...
 
Most parts will be the same, except mainly the fairing, headlight, etc.

Great find IMO. The '83 was the first yr. of the mono shock full floater. The mfg date often precedes the model date. The '83 es has a half fairing, lower bars and different factory colors. The wiring harness may be slightly different to accomadate the faring, but it would functionally be the same. Everything else is the same(I think) so parts are interchangeable. You can check out bikebandit to see the differences. Good luck and have fun. I love my '83.

It's hit or miss. Suzuki uses a lot of common parts between models so one just has to investigate. Sorry for the vagueness.

In Canada we had the GS 750 until 1986. Many parts are the same.

Many parts, but not all, from the USA 1985 GS700E/ES are interchangeable. However, you have to be a little bit careful as some of the bodywork and engine parts are different. The easiest way to check is to see if the part numbers are identical.

One small trick is to run the 700cc pistons in the 750cc block. When Suzuki downsized to the 700cc motor, they left the bore the same as the 750cc motor at 67mm and de-stroked to make up the 50cc loss. By de-stroking the motor they lost compression, so to keep the compression the same as the 750cc motor at 9.6-1, they domed the 700cc motor pistons to make up for this compression loss. If you run these domed pistons in place of the 750cc flattop pistons in your 750cc motor, you will get 10.25-1. This works really well with any other mods such as cams, timing advance and better carbs and is a much better way to get compression up without shaving the head. The 700cc domed pistons will bolt right up as they are identical to the 750cc units. I have run this setup for years in one of the two motors that I have for this bike. These TSCC 16 valve motors are very strong, I highly recommend a race pipe, set of drop-in cams and flatslide carbs to really wake the bike up. You will be amazed at the improvement over stock with virtually no sacrafice in rideability. Ride On, Ed.
 
AWESOME! Thanks for the info oldschoolGS! Does anybody know what I can do about getting some different calipers? These ones on here are locked shut...I will make another post for this one...Thanks everyone!!!
