    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I found this wrapped up in electrical tape on my bike when I was rewiring the charging system and installing a new (used) Shindengen SH775 R/R. Some sort of fusible link, terribly rigged up? coarse thread screws with wires wrapped around them and screwed into the holes on this piece!

Lots of cobbled and hacked wiring on my bike unfortunately.
I have seen GS's with the fuse blocks located under the side covers. Is my 77 GS750 located in the gauge cluster, or is mine just missing? I don't seem to see any wiring that would indicate that it was spliced and chopped out of the system.
 
That looks like a self resetting circuit breaker designed to plug into a glass tube type fuse box in place of a fuse. It appears to have been poorly soldered into an inline "fusible jury rig".
 
That is ugly. Corroded and everything. If there needs to be a fuse there, get a weatherproof blade fuse holder from the auto parts and solder it in there.
IIRC, the 77 750 just had one glass fuse in it. Where was that located?
 
Battery one side, Aux on the other. It is exactly that, a power point to plug in stuff that needs 12v. It looks messy I'd have it out and if you need a 12v power point go directly to the battery via a modern blade type fuse link.

I stand corrected. I just looked at the parts fiche, the 77 GS750 had a fuse block with 2-3 fuses, looks like it was under the left sidecover. Then it had a stand-alone single fuse, 15A, looks like it was somewhere in the center of the wiring harness. That may have been its ugly replacement.
Download the Service Manual from BikeCliff's website and look in the electrical section.
Well, I just downloaded the manual and it shows one fuse. Hmmm.
