A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just reassembled my carbs on my 79 GS850 and I thought I followed the directions to the letter. I have a piece that I am not sure where it is supposed to go. I have attached a picture. I haven't gotten to the part to put the carbs on the bike yet but I just did a manual sync for the sliders to go fully open and fully closed. Could someone please look at this pic and tell me what they think this piece is and where it goes? It's a little round cylinder tube. Some kind of sleeve? it's metal.

I've never seen anything like that on the VM22's or the VM29 smoothbore carbs. Are you sure it's from the carbs? Almost looks like brass. Do you know what kind of metal it is?

It's brass. To be honest a friend disassembled the carbs. It may not be from them but I just want to be sure. Where else do you think it would go?

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me about the VM26's will chime in, but I've never seen a part like before.

going out on a limb here .. but looks like the tube that goes betwix the carbs.to me but then i have no idea of what carbs you have .. or like wise..

How about this part? Like I said, I didn't take them apart and I am following the instructions on the article on bike cliffs site the best I can. Do these even go on the carbs?

Forgot to attach.

That part holds the throttle shaft in place. Attaches with a screw to the main gang support.

Edit: check this photo. I think it shows that second piece and where it is supposed to go.

Yes, that's where that second piece goes. There is a grove in the rod that the piece fits into and then screws to the post on the bracket.

I've rebuilt several sets of VM26's, and that first part does not look like anything I've seen. I don't think it belongs.

In case you needed a third opinion, I don't think that first piece is from a Mikuni VM either...
