what is the black box with the white arrow pointing at it? the r/r unit is under the battery. so???? and what does it do? thanks in advance, Marc.

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
NOT cheap. OEM NOS (if they're available) are over 300 bucks...I thought that might be what is was, but I tried finding "ignitor" for gs850glt in the fiches and could not find one.
When I took my bike apart last month and cleaned up the electrical I took the ignitor apart and it looked like crap inside. burnt traces, one of the screws had solder all around it and the PCB looked charred.
I want to replace it when I do my stator and r/r. I'll have to find out how much it is.

The cycle quit on me yesterday as if I had hit the kill switch.
I can not reproduce the problem.
It ran fine today.
The clutch and kickstand (if it had one) safety start thing have been bypassed by the PO.
Don, ty again. Yes I want to get to the root of the issue not just replace parts.
I went through and cleaned all the wires and connections (to the best of my ability) last week. I rechecked the connections last night.
I tested the stator and r/r and need to replace both.
stator is grounded out on one leg and has not reading when tested with the other two legs.
R/R has no reading from red wire to any of the three yellows with red multimeter lead connected to red r/r wire and black lead connected to yellows. but when I reverse the leads I get good reading.
I've checked quite a few of the ground wires resistance and they seem to all be good. I will be going back through everything in the next few days while I wait for parts to redo stator and r/r.
