"due to the head case jacking the thread,"

Twisted history there, bud. Wolf offered up an opinion, and the next poster jumped his sh*t, pretty much calling him an idiot for his opinion, which carries as much weight as yours or mine.

"They barely keep out anything bigger than a pebble. I can see that you don't care much for your bikes, if you choose to run such crappy filtration."

Finally took bike out for it's first ride after a whole bunch of work over the months. Guess what? It don't run very well with stock set up on carbs with pods and free flow exhaust! LOL I did notice it runs real good if I pull the choke all the way up.... :)

So now wait till Monday and get a hold of Z1 and order some jets. There seems to be a problem with online ordering right now on their website.

Also, the top end seems to be a bit "rattley"...don't recall it making that kind of rattle noise before. I just resealed top end. Gonna have to recheck valve clearances again soon anyway

SUDCO has a great selection of jets and other essential carb parts. They get stuff out quickly as well.

So, you post something that's simply your opinion, as well?? Smooth move, Ex-Lax... The fact is, EMGO air filters are CRAP.

Pardon me if I doubt the word of an insulting internet cowboy as "fact". I have personally ran plenty of Emgo filters and consider them a much better product for the money than K&N that cost 4-5 times as much money. Since I've not had any kind of filtration or lifespan issues with them, your "fact" is worthless drivel, your opinion and nothing more, just like mine.

I think the polarity of the opinions is largely due to jetting nuances. It should not be that hard to believe that a K&N jet kit was not designed for the restricted flow characteristics of a Emgo pod. The Emgo pods can probably be jetted to run adequately but I doubt they will ever perform to the level that the K&N pod with K&N jet kit will. I say that they are restricted due to two factors that are readily apparent from inspection. a.) the reduced surface area and b.) the large rubber flange on the inside that binds the filter to manifold.

We also have it on good authority that the APE pods are equivalent in terms of jetting (quoting Chef).

I did buy a stack of embo pod filters and they are still rolling around in a box somewhere. I just went with K&N to avoid any unnecessary jetting nuances.

Talk about false economy. You buy K&N filters ONE time. After that, you clean and re-oil them once a year, and that's it. EMGOs don't filter nearly as well, and are throw-away junk. Yes, wimple, those are the FACTS, whether you like them or not.

It's your money, Skippy, blow it wherever you want. As for false economy, I'm not having to buy multiple sets to approach the cost of your K&N fantasy. You use the word fact a lot, as if repeating it over and over again makes it so. Opinion. I have one of you, maybe that makes it fact.

OK wimple, you win. I'm not going to crap all over someone's thread to argue with someone as ignorant as you.

Hay...I just offerd my personal opinion from personal experience....instantly, the Wolf Bash....just because my option doesnt jive with another's....that really a mature way to address a post....
"Headcase".....lolol.....and actually, Im am.....after the kids grew up, finished college and were on their own, I went into the 20 yr old years that Id missed...."headcase"....thats namecalling isnt it ? ...a TOS violation........I received a warning for that....I hope others did too.....

As for filter brands....its really all up to rider prefs, how much you ride, and the conditions you ride in....no ????....I been using EMGOs for over 4 years, and ya, theyre throwaways....but can be cleaned as well....at $7 each per season, I see no reason to clean em....

Ive actually taken them apart, and compared the filtration rate through the actual media in comparison to a K and N....K and Ns need to be oiled btw....ergo attract more fines....but I tested both media with the K and N unoiled.....nearly the same.....therefore, the K and Ns only filter better due to the oil.....but cost a LOT more, and require more frequent cleaning....but yes, they WILL do a better job....but also restrict airflow.....

I put a K and N in my camry 2.2 (actually my mom's)....it started running REALLY rich....I swapped out to a Fram and all was good again....

All I did was to offer an option and opinion....the standard on boards, is "to attack the post, not the poster".....and honestly, attacking the poster for their personal opinion just makes the reply look even more stupid and immature....Personal attacks belong in high schools, etc....if you dont agree with someone, delineate WHY you dont, then show your own arguement...thats what adults do....

My personal experience tuning with Emgo pods vs K&N has proved the difference to me but it is not worth arguing over. That K&N and APE are superior would be correct and over the long haul probably more economical, certainly more reliable. If you are satisfied with what you have more power too you.

"someone as ignorant as you"

How often do the mods let you get away with this? Rules don't apply to all equally.

Saying that you're ignorant isn't calling names. It's an observation of your knowledge.

Now, if I called you an idiot, or stupid, that may be out of line, depending on whether you actually are.

Ignorance can be easily cured. Stupidity is for life.

....guys....im gonna start showin the "mod/admin" in me that i have been before, but never want to be again....anyway.......STICK TO THE SUBJECT is the priority......if you have personal issues with someone, take it to a PM....otherwise youre inflicting a buncha pig dung on all other members reading..... anyone disagree with that statement ?....

Subject here basically, is filtration....cant individuals have their own prefs ?......fine to disagree with an opinion, but it just frickin LOW to intentionally belittle and insult another member for their opinions....discuss/attack the post....never the poster....anyone who does that besides for defense just lowers themselves....

I mean hay....I swear by bel-ray fork oil.....some have bashed me on that (other boards)....they have their own brands....thats fine...post the pros/cons, and thats it.....dont go namecalling and demeaning a particular individual because they dont do as you do. Thats borderline Communism....I also swear by Castrol GTX....used it since the 70s.....I bet a dozen will chime in on that too....

Shouldnt we all be concentrating on riding and working on our machines instead of spending hours on a message board bickering ?....

Ive seen this happen on boards before....thats why i left em.....Id hate to see it happen here.....

Just for all's info, Ive owned :

Suzuki, Kawasaki, CZ/Jawa, Triumph, BSA, Maico, Harley, Indian, Bultaco, BMW....yet, Ive been labeled "a Harley guy".....think about it (3 Zukis btw, and i was aked "why I was here")......the more instigation and intentional disruption, is gonna kill this board....Ive seen it happen before to other boards....those with maturity and good intent need to see this and take actiion....I like this place, but I can take it or leave it.....Ive met a lotta good people here....also a lot that probably shouldnt even own a computer......

Just remember....this is a discussion board, to share thoughts and ideas.....its not meant to be a place to demean an individual for whatever reason.......nuff said from me....

Okay....got the dyno kit and APE filters installed. Finally got a chance to at least fire it up tonight. Started fairly easy and I just let it run and idle for a bit. After fiddling with a few things and blipping throttle...I noticed that my crankcase vent tube ( which is like 4 foot long at the moment ) would make those guys that do the model trains real proud! It is a constant steady stream of steam! At least that what it looks like to me. I got engine good and warmed up, ( never did ride it ) but I was amazed how much steam/vapor came out. I don't have a filter on it just yet, and just happened to notice it.

This is my first foray into putting the pods on a bike ( doing a mod like this ) I have never really paid attention to breather hoses before to see what it looks like. Once upon a time way back in the early 80's I had to disconnect a breather hose on a bike and I am pretty sure it didn't look like what this one is doing...

Finally took it out on a couple runs....amazing thing that heat soaking of an engine! Steam concern is gone..lol. Runs real good and pulls strongly through all the gears. I will have do a plug read soon. I only have about 75 miles on it since I did all this work and need to put more on so I can re torque head and check valves...but that is another thread!

Happy holidays to all!
