A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi, I was able to get my 1983 gs750es running! I was able to do this after reading alot of this forum. So much great info here. It seems like this bike really goes now!

Anyway I noticed that the instruments are not stock for this year? At least I don't think so. Does anyone know what year it is from? None of the electrical was working on it but I managed to fix all of that with a soldering iron. Now when I am riding it seems like the speedometer is showing much slower than I am going. Or maybe 70 just seems alot faster than it used too lol. So I'm guessing that this came off a bike with a different size tire? Otherwise the speedocable doesn't look like it is in great shape and isn't routed right so that could be the problem too.

other weird thing is neutral is spelled wrong

I tried bike bandit but could not find a match not even in the Hondas, I get the feeling that is not a Suzuki dash.

Except I don't know what other bikes came with a gear position indicator. :o

I noticed the NEURTAL, too. It looks like it has been applied with a labelmaker tape. :D

Some Hondas did Steve. My Nighthawk had one except it was old style digital.

Looks like the dash on my 86 GS550E. Like Steve says, it does look like label maker tape to me too.

Shop carefully.

That USED "hood" can be gotten on eBay for 39.99.

That same "hood" NEW can be gotten at Bike Bandit for 51.49.

That same "hood" NEW can be gotten at G&S Suzuki for 40.92. :D

Personally, for 93 cents, I'll go for NEW.

By the way, it's part number 34150-43410

.

Good call Steve, I didn't check to see if it was purchasable from the OEM dealers. I figured that they were no longer available like parts for my gauges.

Fair enough. :o

I did not say they didn't exist, only that I didn't know what they were.

By the way, what year Nighthawk?

.

that pic is of a '85
cant remebr if my cb400 had one, I only rode it for 2 months before I had a scare and quit riding till my GS

Nice, that looks like it's the one! I could use a new cover for it but I kinda like the stickers.

The other funny thing about it is that the neutral and oil labelmaker stickers are in the wrong places.

Well it looks like the front wheel from the gs550 should be the a 16" just like my 750es. Must be something else with the speedometer. The cable is broken in a few places so I might just try to replace that. I probably should anyway. Thanks for the ID help.

My "glass" has some age/stress cracks in it. Was thinking of getting a new "glass". Can't believe it's still available and not rediculously priced either. Only like $40.00 or something like that.....factory new from the dealer too. I think that's worth it.
