    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ive been de-registered twice now.........

Its starting to get annoying, It seems that just because you dont get online every day of the week the site somehow automatically de-registers you.............

There is description the "announcment" section, about the 5th or 6th one "database purges". I had been "purged" once myself, but understand why.

Re: Whats the go with the site?

I believe Frank has it set up so that if you do not logon for 60 days, you are deleted. Considering the turnover of 1 or 2 post newbies, things would get out of hand if things were left to snowball. LOL

The purge period had been changed from 60 to 90 days because it was inconvenient for some folks. Fine. But now we get someone who either doesn't visit, log in or post something for 90 days and he's whining because he got purged from the database. Boo hoo. Sorry pal, you get no sympathy here. Non-participants get purged - simple as that. Strike One...

Besides, this thread does not belong in the Technical area. Strike Two...

Not always 60 or 90 days. I rarely miss a day visiting this site. On june 20th I had posted a reply to someone's question, & everything was fine. Less than 10 min. later I tried to post another reply to another question & found I had been completely deleted from the site. I couldn't believe what had been deleted. I went back & looked up questions that I had posted replys to & found the questions & everyone elses responses were there, but my responses were deleted. I couldn't find anything anywhere on the site that related to me. It took me a few days to think to try re-registering, I re-registered using the same screen name, same password, same e-mail address, everything exactly like before and everything worked perfectly. The only change was, now I've been a member since June 24th 2005, and I was originally a member since sometime in 2002 or 2003. Never knew what happened, but it sure wasn't from not visiting the site nor posting for 60 days. Golly, why is there so much I don't know about these durn computers???

Y'know Frank, come to think of it, what happens if you dont sneak in at least once every 90 days? :-) :-) You might have to come back as 1100ED. LOL

I had another incidence of this happening before. I tried tracking it down and could never find anything conclusive as to why the users entry got deleted. It certainly sounds like you met the conditions for not getting purged so I'm not to sure what to say. If it happens again be sure to let me know. The sooner you let me know after the purge is done, the easier it is to track down.

<--- working very hard on not being de-registered. In the event of the rare day that I arrive and have nothing useful (?) to say, I'll cut and paste a post from one of the other forums I participate it... so ya'll jes bear with me if I drop ya'll a recipe for chocolate chip pancakes or explain to a deserving newbie exactly how to "Back-up, Fdisk, Format & Reinstall their XPSP2 on a triply partitioned 120 Gb drive :) Then I'll realize where I'm at and ask one of the burning questions that keep me awake nights... like where does all the rubber go that wears off of motorcycle tires? We ought to be armpit deep in the stuff by now!
