If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS1100 E?

Where are we looking? Down, under seat?

Which you asking about? THe white connector with 4 conductors? THe thin red wire with connectors? THe bare connector?

.

What color are the wires? Match up the colors with those in your service manual wiring diagram.

yes the gs1100E 1982. Its the plug im holding, it has to cut wires from the back, but those wires dont exist in the bike. i dont see the cut wires anywhere.

also im waiting for my service manual to come in....i had to get it from new zealand..?? anyways, does anyone know what connection that is that im holding?

You didn't answer the question about the color of the cut wires.

Free manual download off Basscliff's website.

What is it? Well, it appears to be a white-shelled electrical connector.

What is supposed to be connected to it?
As Nessism asked, what colors are the wires coming out the back side?

Even if two of the four are cut off flush with the connector, the remaining two might give some clues.

.

missed that one!

orange with white stripe
black with yellow stripe
solid white
black with white stripe

mother of god thats a maze! lol. thanks nessism, i have to get into looking at diagrams. they just confuse the bijesus out of me. always have. lol

no?? it looks to be all stock, just the previous owner was definitely not apt on a few things.

also, ill get the cut wire colors in the AM. but that still doesnt help me to what that connector connects to.

It connects to the ignitor box. Please check the factory service manual, there should be a diagram showing where all the various electrical parts can be found.

ive searched for this igniter box in the manual...i cant find it.:(

You might want to pull off the ignition cover and look to see what kind of ignition is on the bike. Maybe someone installed an aftermarket ignition like the Dyna-S that does not require an ignitor. At any rate, the ignitor is typically mounted in the battery box area, commonly on the RH side of the bike.

Those are the colors for one of the ignitor plugs but they usually employ spade connectors in the OEM harness. Looks like an aftermarket plug with those terminals.

took apart the harness some more, (a part i thought was good) more cut and spliced wires, one ignition coil is to the plug i showed, then the other two are on a seperate send off to the main section. looks to be some sort of aftermarket ignition. Ness, ill check that out a little later today. its a little too Africa hot outside for me.
