    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

We were putting new tires on the '80 GS1000G project yesterday and upon breaking the bead found an innertube. Wheel says tubeless on it, so we removed the offending item and put the new tire on.
Did the front, put the tire on and the bead wouldn't seat. looked at the wheel, no lip on the inside for the bead to seat and the wheel didn't read, "tubeless" anywhere on it. Luckily my friend had the right tube in stock so we installed it and all was well.

My question is, why on Earth would Suzuki have one wheel tubeless and the other tube type?
Doesn't make much sense.

I about killed myself (favor to a friend) a year ago when the stealership mounted a tubeless tire to a tubed rim. She had me install the wheel combo and take it for a test ride. Needless to say...the front blew off the bead at 60+ mph and I was in a death grip wobble all the way to a stop! :mad:
That seems like a GREAT scenerio of a law suit. :confused:

Lots of people around here have converted their tube type cast wheels to tubeless. The tire won't blow off the rim. You install the appropriate valve stem and mount the tire just like any other tubeless tire.
 
My front is labeled "tubeless tire applicable" on it, though the rear is not - but they're obviously of the same manufacture. I figure it was possible to put that on the 19" but not the 16" (more room for the lettering). I did end up installing a new rear tubeless, and there was no tube on there before. Had to drill out the hole a bit to make the valve stem fit. Some say these older rims were a bit porous and that's why tubes are needed. I have to put about one PSI in every two weeks, front and rear.

Well I'm not sure WHAT was done, but I can tell you, I wouldn't / WON'T ride one that way... :confused: I don't enjoy surprises like that. :mad:
