    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone have any tips on how to restore the finish on mag wheels and forks on a 82 GS400. They are dull and wondered if I could do anything to breathe some life into them.

Also take a look at the seat mod I had done. Whattdya think???

I had an upholsterer rebuild it using the original pan. Wanted to do away with the passenger hump.

Been riding for a little over two months. Did the MSF course and loving every minute on the bike.

I'm on this site every day learning and soaking in information. I'd be lost without it. Thanks to all of you who share knowledge about these great bikes.
 
well personally, I like whatever you've done to the seat. If you're really ambitious, you could get your wheels and fork lowers powdercoated
 
Powdercoating is a great idea. I'm just not sure I want to invest that much into this bike. It's a starter and hope to upgrade to at least a 750 or larger. Is there a type of do-it-yourself paint process I could undertake over the winter? I plane on dismantling the bike in late November to freshen stuff up.

It's pretty easy man. If you want to paint them. Just take it all apart and lightly sand the parts in question, then shoot some paint on them. Be sure to use good paint. Around here you can buy automotive paint in a can, but its really thin and runs easy. It also takes a long time to get it on thick for a good finish. If you don't want to spend any money you can just spray krylon on it, but it will look like **** in no time flat.
 
I'll do some paint research and figure out what the best way to approach it is. If it's gonna look like crap I'll leave it the way it is.

You should polish that stuff man. It doesn't take that much money and it looks way better.
 
I thought of polishing too. I'll do a search and see if there are some tips on it. I'm sure I can manage it with the tools I have. Dremel, compressor etc. I just need to read up on techinique. I think I saw a great thread on a beautiful polishing job on an 850. I'll find it and read up. Thanks for the advice.
