A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

my carbs are close. It's a bit rich on the mains (122.5), I bought both 120 and 117.5's. Once I get the mains dialed in, I will adjust my dynajet needle and then the pilots.

When do I synch?

Do I synch before I test the main circuit with the new mains? Should I synch between completions of each circuit?

**NOTE: Not sure if I will actually run true Plug Chops as it's not condusive where I live (in the middle of a bustling city where there really isn't a place to cut the engine and pull over on the only straigh away (I-95)). I will test the curcuits based on overall plug readings and proper pull in each range.

I have the morgan on order!

Jetting doesn't have anything to do with sync, do it when ever you get a hankerin.

Huh, well, that's good. I guess I can begin swapping in jets and testing.:)

While jetting doesnt't affect sync, the carbs being out of sync & causing the bike to run rough might have you chasing something that isn't a problem. I have always done them in this order: Install, adjust mixture screws CORRECTLY, sync, mains, then needles. It makes the bike idle smoothly & eliminates you chasing rough running issues that just might be the pilot circuit or the sync. Good luck, Ray.

Can't argue with Ray's advice, but would add just a bit to it.
Before installing, do a bench sync and set the mixture screws to a preliminary setting of 2-3 turns out from lightly seated.

Personally, I will set the mixture screws, do a vacuum sync, then, while the gauges are still attached, check the mixture screws with the new sync setting and finally, double-check the sync to make sure nothing changed. I know it shouldn't, but it's easier to leave the gauges hooked up than it is to hook them up again. :o

I have not been to Philly, but I can't believe that you only have all city streets that lead to the freeways. :-k
Surely there are some country-ish roads where you can do plug chops without endangering the public or yourself.

Hey steve,

Well, here's the thing, here is where my garage is located:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...,-75.159016&spn=0.070117,0.11673&z=13&iwloc=A

I'm sure I'll figure something out. The "country-ish" roads are only about 40 minutes out of town.:D

OK, I see you do have a definite problem there, but it's only about 15 miles west on Route 3 to get past Newtown Heights.
Yeah, it might take 45 minutes or so, but the effort would be worth the trip.
