A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thats a seal for around one of the wires coming from either the ignition or stator side. Look at a schematic for your bikes electrical to see where it goes. Try Partsoutlaw or Alpha Sports for the fiches.

No size reference.

No bike reference.

Really hard to say. :-\\\

Please, either mention your bike in EVERY post or just generate a quick signature that does it for you.

And, while you are at it, update your profile to show your location. One of us might be close enough to help.

.

Yes that goes in the slot at the back of the starter, your oil pressure wire goes thru the hole at the top.

The part's not vital, you could easily use the one you have. Heck you can't even see it when it's on the bike.

Load the groove with black RTV and add some across the top just slightly higher than the rim and place the lid on. Sealed good enough at that point.

Why the heck wouldn't he use the part he has?? it's not in that bad of shape and it's not like that hole has to be water tight or anything like that.......RTV silicone????

Egads... the picture made that thing look the size of a five pound canned ham.

Yes..as in the groove in the rubber part to effect a better seal. Its there to seal against road slop and dirt getting past it and it IS IMPORTANT!!! And old rubber shrinks and the original seal is now broken..so a little RTV in the groove in the plugs edge before reinserting it makes very good sense and takes up gaps from the part being looser now.

Why would you think I meant throw the plug away and RTV the space shut???? Thats not what i meant at all!!!

I could use a new one for my bike too. If anyone finds a dealer with some please send me a PM.

Why would you bother using RTV though??? the old rubber plug would seal more than fine enough, hell on some bike I've never even bothered with the plug. You know there's a drain hole down below the starter as well in case any water ever got in there, just sayin'

Forgot where the part went! Once Chuck & AZR reminded me, I tried to to get a new one and they are no longer available.

Some do and some dont have that drain hole. I like to have things sealed up nice so the original intent of the part is kept up. Like we reuse the cam end caps all the time...but they need a little help sealing so they dont leak,,,right? Sort of the same theory from my view point. Stop the possibility of a leak and the rest is gravy.

Don't worry about us two old bugers, we're just yakin' about minor details that don't really matter any how..... gives us something to do.
