I have not been able to find the correct fuel petcock for my 1979 GS1000, so I tried to rebuild it using a kit. The kits parts were not exactly like the original one, but I tried to rebuild it anyway. It seems to be leaking, so I am back to looking for the correct fuel petcock again. If someone knows where to find one for a 1979 GS1000 let me know,
I did manage to reroute all the rubber lines where they should be thanks to the link you guys posted.
If I can't find the correct vacuum fuel petcock I may have to go with a regular mechanical ON/OFF style...

Part# 44300-44011
Desc COCK ASSY, FUEL

Available anywhere Suzuki parts are sold. You won't like the price though.

Some people say the early model 750 petcock will work, and is much cheaper.

I see the two links and looked at the parts, big price difference. What were the discounts and where can I find them?
Maybe I should just go with the GS 750 version. Will it fit okay? Also what is the difference in the parts listed, for each petcock there seems to be two versions? Do I want the first one listed at the top for the GS750 or the second one listed for the GS750? The only difference I can see is the second version has the tank gasket included, is that right? Anyway, they have the same part number for both GS750 versions, which one should I order?
Thanks, looking forward to getting the bike back on the road!

You probably haven't figured out how to find posts by other forum members on this site yet so here are the 3 codes that you enter in the code box at the bottom of the check out page at Parts Outlaw:
outlawlife, suzukivolusia, suzukiatvforums
If you look at the first three parts on that '79 750 fiche, you will notice that they all carry the same exact part number. ;)

BTW, I also have 3 of those coming my way just for spares. LOL!

The 77 and 78 750s are the same petcock cosmetically..just the nipples face different directions, but it will work just fine. May need some longer vac and fuel lines but thats it. And yes its about 1/3 the price.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Okay, nice work guys! I will order the 750 tap today! Thanks again!

Fuel taps

Fuel taps

I tried one tap which looked like it might fit, but didn't. Then I tried a rebuild kit which was not right either. So now I am going to buy a new tap! I did measure the bolt spacing and was at least aware of that difference, then if was looking at the hose inlet direction...
