DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks for that info. I'm new here and still tring to figure out my way around. Where can I find info on how to get the carbs off so I can clean them? I also need info on carb cleaning/rebuilding. Thanks Steve

your carbs are a little diffrent then what is pictured in the clean series but the idea is basiclly the same. just follw the directions and use a impact screw drive bit to remove as many screws as possable so you don't strip things.

Wiil do as soon as I get a book and fiqure out how to get the carbs out. I have a 1500 Intruder also thoses carbs are just sitting on the boots. And the carbs on my 750 Honda cane off easy. The one's on the 550 are as you know sandwiched between the motor and the air box. I haven't figured out how to get the air box out. Thanks again Ryan. Steve

just start playing with it, you will need to losen the air box and move it as far back as posssble, the you can loosen the clamps for the carbs and slide the carb back and they should pop of, you may need to use a little silicone spray and a hair dryer/heat gun to soften the boots to help the carbs come off. it's not that easy but if you take it slow and carfull you will figure the way to get the carbs out. don't be scared to start taking things off as long as you have a good memorey. you need to get the air box loose first then some how get the carbs to slide back so you can then slide them out the side. it may help to disconnect the cable too.

give it a shot see what happens, the book won't be to much help it telling you how to get them off you just need to figure that part out.

oh yeah let me restate this USE A IMPACT SCREW DRIVER AS MUCH AS POSSABLE, you can use them as screw drivers too or fit the bit in a socket and then use it that way too. these screws love to strip.

OK I have one of thoses I used it when I rejeted my 1500 The bolts are shitty at best and whey to tight I wonder why they tighten them down so tight? I guess tighter is better...LOL... well at least somethings. Thanks for all your help I'll tackle that in a day or so.

Steve

Hey, if you're going to buy a new exhaust (I assume a header), get yourself some individual pod filters. No more airbox hassles. Of course you'll probably need to rejet with something like a Dynojet Stage III kit, but the bike will run great and sound great when you're done.
