    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

where to get clutch discs?

If your just needing the fiber plates, try JC Whitney. I did alot of research on the fiber plates they sell. I called JCW and got the name of the manufacturer and found them on the web. I also called them. The manufacturer is a well known company in the tranny/clutch/pressure plate world. I have had them in my bike for over 2 years and never had a problem. The manufacturer is Alto. Their website is www.altousa.com.
 
thanx for the help everyone, i went ahead and ordered from dennis kirk, i got the parts unlimited pro series clutch discs and vesrah heavy duty springs. But not being to quick i forgot to order a gasket. Has anyone had any leak problems with silicone on the clutch cover? Thanx.
 
Forget the silicone. The last thing you need is little lumps of silicone goo clogging your internal oil galleys. New gasket about $5. Tearing down engine because of oil starvation due to silicone goop, about $1000......if youre lucky.

Probably the best thing to do is just go to your local Suzi shop and order one.
It shouldnt cost you more than 5-6 bucks.
UPS shipping charges would cost more than the gasket if you ordered it from Dennis kirk. :-) If I was going to order online, my first choice would be to go to cycle recycle's online store

went with bikebandit for the gasket, they had it for like 8 plus shipping, so that sucks but i wanna make sure i have it by next weekend and our dealerships are usually very slow on parts.
 
For future access, you might want to call around in your area, Some shops have a CNC gasket cutting machine. With these machines, one selects the bike model, then the gasket number from a diagram on the monitor, punches in the numbers and the machine auto cuts a gasket. Usually, any non metallic gasket for any bike can be made in minutes.

I agree with Earl and generally tend to stay away from the silicon sealant whenever possible. I do remember seeing a pontiac engine years ago that had been damaged due to sealant clogging up at least one of the oil passages.

When I changed my clutch a couple of months ago I just bought some gasket material and cut my own gasket. The material is usually available at most auto parts stores and is very easy to cut. I did use some Indian gasket compound in the two areas where the top and lower cases meet. Sealed up perfectly, and after 1000mi, no leaks so far.

For future reference, another place to try for fiber clutch plates is APE - http://www.gszone.biz/clutches.html. I got mine from them for $85.
