Great Great site, Would it be best to mount the battery ground wire to the engine like it is now, or, find a spot on the frame? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Presently, I have my sole ground wire from the battery to a bolt on my clutch over. Friends of mine said that was a good place for it. HOWEVER, those same friends told me one is not enough...you need more ground wires attached to different parts of the bike. As for the reasons why having more than one ground is a good idea, I'm not sure. I'm no expert on the subject. But my friends say that attaching ground wires to different parts of the frame is perfect. (one guy has four ground wires coming from his (-) side of the battery. I plan on doing this too in the near future.

One good ground on your engine should be good enough unless it has rubber mounts. A car will have a ground to the engine and a strap from the engine to the body. As long as your grounds coming from your lights and other devices are clean you will not have a problem.
On the other hand, it is good to run some grounds directly to the battery if you are having problems. Doing this means you won't have to find the problem connector...

What is the purpose of a ground?
Can some explain, in layman terms, the purpose for having a ground? I have a general idea..but want to know the real answer

No problem,
If you want a light bulb to work you need to have it connected to the + terminal of the battery and the - terminal as well. If you wanted to connect a light on the back of your bike to your battery you would need to have TWO wires going all the way back there. Instead of doing this bike manufacturers only run ONE wire to the light which is connected to the + terminal and use the frame as the - wire. This means you have half of the wires you would normally need.
You connect the main battery ground to the engine because it completes the starter circuit. You may have noticed that there is only ONE big wire going to the starter...
