    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

so it's crunch time, and the bike is progressing along very well, it's now time to get new rubber.....

not looking for a long drawn out debate, I have settled on 2 kinds and not going to really look at anything else, I think either will work, but want to see what the masses think.....

typical riding conditions, to work and back this is mostly flat city commute, and then the occasional weekend warrior, some back roads up in the country, what little I have in my neck of the woods, and no nothing aggressive.

so here are the choices

Pirelli Sport Demons

They are priced relatively the same, it's not a deciding factor
 
Well didn't really want a read about history.....seems most of the posts are old and nothing really up to date, I am sure a lot has changed from 2009....and onwards...

but thanks for the links....

based on the old info, the Avon tires suck because of cracking issues, not sure if this has been resolved, but otherwise they are a great tire..

the Pirelli's on the other hand seem to not have any issues....

I guess it will be the Pirelli Sport Demons....

With either of those choices, plan to be buying another rear tire in about 6,000 miles.

One thread from 2009. Even at that, Roadriders and Sport Demon's haven't changed for a long time. Claims of cracked Roadriders have diminished significantly too.

Sport Demon's are the shortest lived tires available. They stick good though.

I don't ride a whole lot, our seasons are short anyways....

Sticky is good, so it still seems the Pirelli are going to win this one
 
I didn't think Sport Demons were available in our sizes ? What do you know that I don't ?:confused:

I am not getting them from there but the place I am using has them as well,

I should point out I have decided to go up one in size as well

so it will be

110/90/16 in the front
and
130/90/17 for the rears

making the call right now....

If you are mostly commuting, get the Avons...they will last longer and should be better in the rain...
 
Toss a coin. I've had both and there's nothing in it. The Pirellis stick a bit better and do wear out a bit quicker - probably not a lot in it though - not enough to worry about.

Those tires certainly are EXPENSIVE at that place!!! (Bend over pricing for sure!)
Did you even try to shop around? :confused:

We don't get the cheap prices you guys get unfortunately.....

and that place is about the cheapest, unfortunately.

even if I order from the US, by the time I pay for shipping, duty, tax, etc....

I am at the same price as if I got them here

yes we here in the great white north, get the bend over pricing most of the time....

and I think I need a 130/90/17 for the rear....

How do you figure that ? $207.90 at Petes and $209.98 at Superstore. Add in Canuck sales tax and shipping, an extra $30. Shipping from Superstore to Canada isn't free.
Gatekeeper. Why did you go to an 80 aspect ratio, instead of matching the front ? They also have Lasertecs, though they are not listed.
 
We must have been posting at the same time. I see you have changed the tire size.:)

Yes, get the 130/90-17 instead.
I have that size on at least 4 of my bikes.
Regardless of the misinformation about them being too large for the rim,
they work wonderfully! :dancing:

Ya I don't know where that 80 came in.....glad I double checked....

stock is 120/90/17 rear and 100/90/16 front, was going to just go one up on both ends, the aspect and rim size were to stay the same....

I must be getting old....LOL

I just checked on the bike what is there now, and I guess this is what threw me off

it has 120/80/17 rear and 100/90/16 front,,,,seems all those years ago, I screwed up...hahahahahaha
 
I did a real quick and rough comparison for all in from the two places...

petes - about 255 give or take

superstore - about 270 give or take

this is shipping, tax, duty, tire tax if applicable

it does work out cheaper from Pete's....and I called and they have stock, I just have to do the order online, as it gives me a tracking number right away.....

Using Shinko 230 Tour Masters on my 1000 instead of Metzler Lasertecs no issues thus far with about 1k on them and 145.00 cheaper too.

Last I checked Shinko doesn't do the 16" fronts these bikes need in the 100 or 110 size.Pity that cause Yeller's going to need new shoes soon.
