DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

This is the listed available stators from the Electrosport company that seems to be the suggested OEM replacement. I have a 1982 GS550, though - Has anybody found that one of these below is applicable? (beware the ugly copy and paste job)

Thanks in advance.

Oh - thanks - It makes me a little nervous that on their sportbike chart, they conveniently left out my year model of gs550L, going up to '81 on one part, and then starting at 83 on the next... But I see which one you are recommending. Thanks.

Ok - I called Electrosport and asked them just to make sure before I ordered, and they said they just don't carry that year because it was a different size. So unless anyone has definitely bought and put a new stator from them into an 82 GS550L, then I think I'm going to have to go with the more expensive and (not better?) suzuki part. Any comments welcome!

Thanks.

Cross-reference the part numbers with the fiche at bikebandit.com or alpha-sports.com. If you can match the stator part number to another model bike, you can be confident in buying the Electrosport model for that bike.

Or, try eBay. Used stators are dirt cheap and may give you many more miles of service (provided you fixed the problem that likely caused yours to go out in the first place).

According to the application chart at the UK based Electrex, all 8 valve 82 GS550L models from 79-82 use the G01 stator. Electrex and Electrosport part numbers correspond, as the companies were formerly related. Electrosport model ESG010 corresponds to the Electrex G01.

I would check the fiche as t3rmin recommended, but I think that you will find that you can order the ESG010 stator with confidence. Dennis Kirk has the Electrosport ESG010 stator (Dennis Kirk part no. 201207) for $113.99 with free shipping.
