DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've got the usual dents and dings in the tank on my '78 GS750, one is pretty sizable. Anyone have any recommendations where to get the work done at a fair price? I want to move on to paint pretty soon but I need to get this tank fixed first.

HELP!

my tank was dented about 4"x8" and where the bars hit it in the front where it was crashed, i found it out when i stripped the paint off of it, filled it myself and blocked and painted it. you can feel low and high spots with the flat palm of your hand, try it on a dent that you find on some car for practice. if not most body shops will take out the dents and fill them, but i don't know how much.
see my thread.

Funny, I was just looking at your other post of the Honda 750-4. You should put up a few more pics.

I'm hesitant to check in my area...it's as if everything is sooo expensive in/around Wash.DC and then I'm basically going to end up with someone who I don't know. Was hoping someone had been down this road before and could recommend a shop that charges a fair price and does great work. I haven't decided yet, but I might do something more than just one color paint.

Ok, so I found a local shop that does body work and painting. Rough estimate, single color paint is $750 with prep, prime, pull out the dent, fill and fair on all four pieces.

Is that a good price? Dent is baseball size, lower left corner if that helps.

Thoughts and advice from anyone who's been down this road?
