Who has moved their electronics under the seat? Re wiring HELP!

Here are some pics of mine. The reason I moved mine is so I can mount a turbo later on in the space where the battery and the electronics where. I am going to be replacing my wiring harness this winter and simplifying all the wiring. I love that pic of the 1300cc kat very clean. I like KiwiGS also. For what its worth I made my pan out of stainless steel and works excellent in keeping everything dry when riding in wet weather. Besides all that I think it gives the bike a very clean look in general.
I say go for it.

turtleface - nice find/post. That pic/setup is awesome and clean and on point to help this NZ AllBlack guy - we wouldn't want to hi-jack or run off our new NewZ friend, would we now Octain? Help or step off man.

<<<You are obs totally missed the point.>>>
Na, no challange. I think you pretty much have it nailed.
As for helping the guy out, I think he's doing a fine job and I dont need to play "knowitall". Nuff of that on here already.

There's still only one header on that bike though.

Well, I would be willing to challenge you, but this is not the English Grammar Forum and I have already seen your position, so it would be pointless. :o
(Just as an example, I only noticed SIX items to challenge in the short quote above. )

I usually let a LOT of stuff slide in the spelling and grammar department, knowing that this is not the English forum and many of our newer, younger members are too accustomed to 'texting' and still have not found the rest of the keys on their keyboards. But, since you asked for it, ...

Oi, that R/R is gonna COOK under that seat. It needs airflow. Might consider mounting it to the underside of that plate or somewhere else altogether..

Yeah it already did. I bought a new one from duneage and I will be looking for a better place to mount the new one. Wasnt thinking about it I probably should have mentioned that in my previous post.

Since the underseat area was so well received, here's the other pics of the bike. Turns out it's a 1135, not a 1300. I knew there was a 3 in there somewhere.

Nearly exactly what I want my bike to look like when I'm done with it, but with the plain old 8 inch round GS headlight, no fairing, and a slightly different color scheme, but that same semi-gloss black.

I'm sort of ambitious.

what model year and bike is that exactly? That is the seat style I want to put on mine except I would have to modify/trim the front down so it doesnt go up the tank.

I *think* its an 83 GS1100SD Katana. But, Im not a Kat expert so it could be a 1000 with a black motor or something..

Yoshimura produced them in small quantities to celebrate the ending of the twenty year Katana production run. They were made in 2001, in Japan. Most of the stuff on it is custom, or heavily modified stock bits. They made over 150 bhp, and weighed 197.8 kg, compared to about 98 bhp and 241.2 kg.

I have not seen on on e-bay lately :-#

I'm sure it would be pricey if one ever showed up

There's a bunch of magnesium parts on that bike, it's gotta be incredibly pricy. But it looks so purposeful, like a weapon. I'm not sure it'd be possible to ride that thing at anything less than a brisk pace. Found some more pics, and specs.

To give you an idea, I priced out a titanium gsxr exhaust once and it was about $3500 alone ; If one of those came up close to mint, it would probably be $25K+. I road with a guy a couple weekends ago on a 86 GSXR750 Limited (about a $5K bike). He was afraid of wrecking it so where is the fun.
This is a museum peice if you ever had one.

whaty benefit is derived from having the weight of the battery taken to the back and upwards?

where has your centre of gravity moved to?

Calvin, the benefit of moving the battery under the tail is pretty much aesthetic and nothing more. As far as center of gravity goes, you're not moving that much weight and the engine far outweighs the battery. Most people that have done this report very little if any noticeable change in the dynamics of the bike while riding.

good to know I suppose the hind end of an average rider just foreward of the battery would sort of make for handling akin to a just slightly heavier rider.
