I'm really, really depressed and really, really upset.

Yesterday afternoon, I went out to my bike to do some cleaning, change the oil and clean the trunk a bit.

I couldn't see my bike! I was starting to freak out. When I get home from work, I always lock it and put it up on sidestand AND centerstand.

Now it wasn't in it's spot. I thought it was stolen.

Then I got there and I saw it was on the ground.

Someone had either shoved it over onto it's left side or it got backed into and they took off.

I hate humanity about now. :(

Gas leaked from the cap for how long, leaving thinned out tear streaks on the beautiful tank. Hard to see, but clearly visible when you get close.

I have sturdy engine guards. Now I have scuffs on it on the left to match the scuffs on the right, which is how I got it.

The worst damage besides the tank is my left rear turn signal. The stalk is remarkably strong on a 1981 GS650GT. Everything is intact, except the cover is almost all gone. Just some orange that is screwed in along with scuff marks.

The Windjammer II fairing is now cracked on the left side to match the right now. The right side was damaged when I got it.

It's still a useable fairing. If it deteriorates, I have the original headlamp and front signals from my purchase.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement orange cover for a left rear turn signal for a 1981 GS650GT? It's not round, it's the rectangular style.

Curiously, I noticed that there is a plastic diffussion plate between the bulb and the orange cover.

Oh and to make me feel worse.

I found a site with stats on my model bike.

16 liter gas tank = 4.2 gallons
Mileage = 48 mpg

Which is a range of about 201.6 miles.

Mine = 104 miles to empty on main.

It's not leaking, it's not smoking. It had new gaskets, tank cleaning, line cleaning, fresh oil change, filter replacement, regular gas, etc. put in after I bought it.

So why am I only going 100 miles before having to look for a gas station?

Blah.

Mnce wasn't as bad, but still really upset me.
This past Father's day. I was meeting my buddy at a Dunkin Donut.
Early in the morning, like 6am. I'm early, ok go get a coffee.
While I'm inside, maybe 3-5 minutes someone backs into my bike.
Pushes it on the side stand about 1 foot backwards!
Thankfully it didn't go over. Did they stop and wait? Hell no.
'As a matter of fact some dumbas$ sitting in her car, next to my bike says she didn't see anything, she was "sleeping". I think it was her that hit me.
After I ask she moves her Jimmy across the parking lot. hmmmmmmm
I walk over and there's too many dings and scratches to even begin to blame her.
I have to nicks on the bike from where it was hit.
No damage to the bike otherwise, just very very upset :-x

So yea people suck big time.
At least say you're sorry for hitting the other persons vehicle.....

People don't give a F@#* about anything other than themselves. It's all me, me, ME!! F@#* you, people...

Yup!! They suck, I think they should hang them next to criminals personally!!!!

Hope you get it fixed friend!8-[

Just to jump into the fray, so to speak...I think most people just don't have a clue how much bikers like their wheels, main reason being (especially with the vintage GS's) they cannot begin to fathom just how much time and sweat have gone into just getting and keeping these bikes on the road!
Maybe if the shoe was on the other foot they would understand......

That's usually the reason behind people's ignorance....they have no clue and don't care. And if it ever happens to them, they conveniently forget they did it to someone else. Not enough people live by the Golden Rule.

The other night, on the way home from work I stopped at a gas station to grab a snack. I parked along the side of the building, while I was inside somebody pulled the wires off of both left side plugs. There was no damage done, but it took me a few minutes to figure out what was going on. There were 4-5 minutes of "what in the heck is wrong with my bike, why's it not running right, it was fine a minute ago." Like I said no damage, but what kind of a jerk does that... it was at about 2:30 AM, so probably a drunk one, but still.

People suck! I keep mine garaged to protect it from losers like that.

I get so steamed up about stuff like that.....AAAArgh.
A while a go I was travelling on a main road in Melbourne, in a Kenworth with a Jumbo pan behind it, fully loaded. Now don't forget we travel on the left hand side of the road here. A woman in some little buzz box pulls out of a side street, straight in front of me, had to pull out all stops to avoid running over the top of her. When I caught up with her a few sets of lights up the road and I'm in her face asking her what her story was she replied " didn't see you" so I asked her what hope I would have on a motorbike when she can't even see a truck, her reply " that's your problem". Told her that her father should have practised birth control.

Off the vandalism topic:
I was riding home Friday after work.
Highway, passing lane.
Me: clipping along in the left lane passing a fleet of cars.
Road on the left intersecting highway: Idiot woman driver. I figured she was gonna pull out in front of me.

Sure enough, dumb blonde on her cell pulls out into my lane! Quick brake and shoulder check gets me in the other lane. I still had a lot of monentum and coasted in front and right of her.

I let her know that I was generally displeased with her driving and observatory abilities, as well as suggested that she would do well to go fornicate vigorously with herself, in sign language, of course.

there is a part of meh that agrees...

dont be a hater Phark - these poor tossers have either....

  • neva ever been exposed to respect for things and people by family or friends and so have no idea what it means....
  • or are just losers that in spite of good upbringing are too freakin lazy to ever strive to push themselves to any achievement much less a project like an old bike.... and would rather destroy anything that symbolises that failure.

then there is the Dark Phark who figures - mebe only h8 will make them see reason....

  • rectally raping them with folded barbed wire...
  • smackin thier feet with a plank full of 4 inch nails...
  • super glueing their genitals to a fry pan then turning it on full....
  • using a glass syringe filled with battery acid to tattoo SCUM on thier foreheads....
  • covering the ground with broken/shattered glass then setting them on fire with two stroke fuel and yelling at them roll dude ....drop and roll ffs...
  • breaking thier legs and holding them hostage in a basement until they heal backwards....
  • whipping the flesh of their backs and dragging them behind a GS on salt flats... at 100kph
well I could go on but - perhaps encouraging h8 isnt the right answer....

Pulling the concealed weapon out and emptying it into all four tires. Man, that thought has come into my mind several times!

Yikes. :(

Ok, this thread blows...But, it's meant too, right? :(

In answer to your question though...I would check with the local junkyards, boneyards, etc. or call Suzuki. They might be able to locate the cover you need.

I just got off the phone with mine, and ordered a few parts to get mine running. I was surprised that they still stocked parts or made them at all. LOL

Good Luck.

a friend of mine carries anywhere between 2 and 5 weapons concealed everytime he rides...its a scary thought.
