All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Are you guys talking about the Electrex R/Rs? They are the ones who sponsor the site and are mentioned in the Stator papers. I've heard good things up to now, it's a shame if they're going Hollywood.

use to sponsor the GSR!

they sold out and are now known as Electrosport, total 180, not the company it once was.

Bad news! The good news is that the Rick's units seem to work well, I have one on the 550 that I put there this year. Electrex used to recommend them for applications they didn't cover.

Well I put the new battery in and the readings got better, but still bass ackwards. I also ran a short wire from one of the mounting ears of the battery box to the frame to make sure there's a ground, as well as sanding the paint away from where the plate that holds all the electrical goodies mounts to the battery box. Those bullet connectors were still getting warm after testing, I didn't like that. Evidently the bullets can look ducky fine and dandy but the inside of the barrels that they go in can be corroded. After digging those out with a drill bit, rat tail file, and contact cleaner the readings are more normal, ie the voltage rises with rpm instead of dropping. The connectors also stay pretty cool. It does seem to take a long time for the readings to stabilize at any given throttle position, but it's within specs so I'm just gonna watch the battery like a hawk for a while and do voltage tests fairly often. If the regulator is on the way out I don't want to be surprised by it.

I replace bullet terminals when they are corroded. Some people solder the wires and that is fine until you need to unhook them. You can get a terminal kit from Home Depot and replace them as you work on the bike.

That sounds like a good idea, there's certainly no shortage of wire there.
