A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i am buying an 1100 this week its an 82 like mine and am doing an engine swap i have an 850. any tips ,concerns, help,or friendly advise? i will follow up with starting pics of the (new)bike and my progress

Sounds like fun! My understanding is that the drive shaft is slightly different so you will need to move that over. The Ignitor is the same so you shouldn't have to mess with the wiring. The airbox may be slightly different, or the boots maybe.

Enjoy!

thanks i am getting it for 250 with no title just a parts bike so i will get what i need and sell the rest it has 13000 on the odometer aprox been sitting for 2 years is the carbs the same as my 850?

Hi,

The 850 uses BS32 carbs. I think the 1100 uses BS34 carbs.

I have it on good authority that the 850 and the 1000 are pretty much the same frame and the engines swap without much trouble. You may be in for a little more logistical challenge with putting an 1100 motor in the 850 frame. As Mr. Nessism says, you'll at least need to move all of the drivetrain over. Keep us informed.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

out of curosity what would involve "moving" the drivetrain over? just shimming? i am going tomorrow to check outhe motor anything i should pay particular attention while i look it over? i am going to do the usuals like pull the plugs check the oil check for leaks stuff like that

82 and on 850 and 82 and on 1100 frames are the same. there was no 1000 after 81, the 1100 took its place...

so what do they mean by moving the drivetrain over to make it work?

Hi,

Along with the engine, take the u-joint, drive shaft, final drive, etc, from the 1100 and put them all on the 850 frame.

Thanks for the clarification Mr. TCK!
