A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys, I have an 82' 850GZ and am going to re-do the wire harness. I have very little electrical knowledge and was wondering if anyone knew of someone that builds wire harnesses. I am going to buy a used 82 1100G wire harness and take it apart, replace all the wires and connectors and then switch it with my old harness because they both are the same harness. All my wires have been messed with and are a real PITA that I don't even know where to begin and am thinking that this may be over my head, but I have to start somewhere because every time I would put a new connector on, not all of the copper would show when I stripped it and it is very brittle. So that is why I am buying the used 1100 harness. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks,
John.

I have the site to buy new connectors, but I don't know where I can start to buy the wire to re-do the harness. Thoughts? Thanks

Hi Mr. JohnnyK,

Perhaps http://www.mcmaster.com for your wire needs? Their automotive wire selection is here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#automotive-wire . EDIT: Well, that link didn't work. Just type in "wire" in the 'Find Products' search bar and click the link that says 'Automotive wire'.

I've been collecting information about wire harness repair on my website: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/storagecliff/images/electrical_odd-n-ends.html

Take lots of pictures and let us know how it goes.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I'd also confirm you can't still get a NOS one. I got a NOS one for my GS1000 about 10 months ago. At $150.00 not a bad deal when you consider the labor to build one.
