As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

My bike (1979 GS1000G) was dismantled, the frame repainted, but my Wiring harness is a real mess :( ,
I am proposed a 850G wiring harness is it the same or will it readily fit my bike?
Thank you.

If it is a 79 also it should be very close . 1980 up turn signal system is different along with electronic ign

There's no such thing as a 1979 model of the GS1000G. This bike first came out in 1980.

This particular bike may have been built in 1979, and so says the stamp on the frame, in all probability. It is, however, a 1980 model. Yours is a GS1000GT. The T stands for 1980.

The 1980 and 81 GS1000G models were practically identical to the 1980 and 1981 GS850G. A wiring harness off a 1980 GS850G (GS850GT) should fit your 1000 just fine.

My GS1000G has its papers and license plate showing that it first came on the road on October 1979 ;) here in Belgium....
Any how , thank you for the responses.

Yes, of course -- as a 1980 model. I had a 1982 GS850GZ built in September, 1981.

Nick is correct, lead time on models has gotten to the point of being ridiculous, the freshened new 2005 ford focus went on sale in June 2004!!!

September is the most common month for new models to go on sale, and they are manufactured often two or more months before hand to build up stock, so you can have a 80 model bike that was built in July of 79

Is a GS850 wiring different from a GS850G/GS1000G? Is the "G" important?
Thank you

The "G" suffix means the bike in question is a shaftie. All GS850's are GS850G's, since all 850 Suzukis are shaft driven.

Nick

:o I know that the G is for shafties ;) but is there a difference in terms of wiring between G and other models?
Thak you
