Wiring issue - What is missing here?

Started on the wiring on my 1978 GS1000 and cannot get it to fire. The wiring was a complete mess so I upgraded to a SH775 and cleaned the connections where needed. Now it will not start! I have the connections as follows:

From the Stator: All 3 wires are wired directly into the SH775

From the SH775: The positive is wired to the red going into the fusebox with a tee going to a red wire in the main harness.

From the Dyna ignition: White is connected to white in the main harness.
Red is connected into the orange/white in the main harness.
Black is connected to the black/yellow in the main harness.

I have 3 wires that are not connected coming out of the main harness. They are green/white, white/red and a solid red.

Any idea what may be wired wrong?

These are the ol' vestigial "stator loop" -you can safely ignore them
The red one: Is important. There are no "open" red wires. It should be on it's way to your key, which switches it across to orange. Test would be-Do lights work? If they do, your problem is somewhere else...anbd the red wire might be something someone has added ,say, a red wire as an auxiliary for accessories. If so, it might be seen as attached to the "Auxiliary" fuse on the bottom of your fuse panel. Naturally you will check fuses on the panel.

Test the red for + 12vdc with the other probe to "ground" I expect you will find it is "live" whether key is on or off. Assuming it is truly red and not a dirty orange/red stripe or something... Mistakes have been made with old wires..

I can't offer an opinion on the Dyna but it sounds ok, orange/white stripe being ignition power.

Can anyone tell me what the "output terminal" is on the wiring diagram for my 1978 GS1000C? (Circled in blue below.) For the life of me I cannot figure out what the "output terminal" is or where it is located. Maybe that is what is missing on my bike as I seem to have an extra Red wire that I cannot figure out where it goes??? Did this bike have a red "auxillary" wire for adding electrical accessories?

As you can tell, wiring is NOT my strong suit! And I really do not want to let any of the smoke out of the wires! It's so hard to get back in there once it escapes!

Starter solenoid?

Not the starter solenoid ( starter relay). It is shown in green at the top of the pic. But the red wire coming off of the starter solenoid goes to this mysterious "output terminal"! My starter solenoid has two red wires, one coming from the battery and another that the wiring diagram shows as going to the "output terminal". I'm confused! What is this thing and what does it do?

Your fuse box has four fuses in it, correct? Do you see another smaller fuse box that has a single fuse?

THAT is your "output terminal". It is merely an AUX output, but be careful using it, it is NOT switched, it is live all the time.

Thanks Steve! No more calls, we have a winner! So that is what is missing on this bike! I have the 4 fuses in the fusebox but nothing else. I would guess that the PO removed it when he replaced the regulator and rectifier with a single unit. At least now I know where that other red wire goes, NOWHERE!
