A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So I used to work at a Yamaha dealership way back in the late 70's and they had this ramp type work platform that could support most bikes say under 400cc. I could not find one online to copy and the dealer went out of business years ago. After a few hours of putting scrap lumber I had left over from work, (I have a small remodeling business) I came up with this. It is currently loaded up with a 250 Yamaha single but I think with an extra layer I could put my GS 450L up on it. See what you think. I can PM measurements if anyone is interested. Also it is supported with the center stand but if you have the ability to hang hooks and tie-downs it would support the bike better and you could do wheel removals then.

Yeah, there are plans floating around for that. Had a copy, myself, but went a different route.

thats a pretty good design. how much does that 250 weigh? my gs700 probably is 400+ pounds

275 pound stank full. So as it sits about 240. I would think doubling the thickness of the top and ramp that it would handle it. It's just getting help pushing it up the ramp.

wheel chock

wheel chock

I like it.

I want something to lift the bikes. What scares me on a design like that is the possibility of dropping the bike on the incline. If there was a way to get it up there secure all the way I would feel better.

I was going to order one of these this week to hold the front wheel in place. I know it does not hold the bike up but it may keep it still while you tie it down. Maybe some "D" rings screwed to the platform so you can tie down to it rather than the rafters like I mentioned before.
