If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

yamaha Fuel injection.

Apparently the link you posted is not a direct link to the auction.

Don't know how easy it will be to install or set up, but I'm becoming a big fan of fuel injection. Set up properly it's practically foolproof. Plus, with the right software and connectors there's no fooling around with jets and carb sticks, it has the diagnostic equipment built in.

That spacing doesn't look even remotely GS compatible! Good luck!

hmmmm.what about the control unit and ancilliary sensors? There are crank trigger and temp sensors...this is not remotely a bolt-on mod or a replacement for carbs....actually,are you even serious about this?

Too bad everything isn't there. I've often thought about FI. Even if everything was there it would take a lot of work. Didn't someone once make an aftermarket FI unit for four cylinder bikes? I don't think it was GS specific.

Megasquirt can do most anything but be prepared for a LOT of trial and error. If someone else has already done it then it will reduce your work by 80%. I've seen it used on cars, trucks and atv's.

Start a sticky thread. Good luck.

Alot of trial and error can be avoided by reading and understanding the volumes of information available.

There are at least 2 honda supersports on cb1100f.net running gixxer throttle bodies and microsquirt controllers, the next step for at least one of them is a crank fired ignition system. Be warned it is a lot of work, and you will need access to a dyno to properly tune it.

Hey, Why not try the '82-'85 GPZ1100 FI?
I have used it on my GS1100 and it works fine with some tweaking. Even the Throttle Bodies squished into the maniflds okay with the right spacing. And the FI wire harness is separate from the main harness and you just splice it into the GS harness.
What else can I say?

I've been playing with the thought of injection. I planned on going with microsquirts, running dodge caravan injectors.

My thing is, why is everyone always looking for itb's from other bikes? I would be quite easy to make a manifold and run a single tb. Or even duals. This would probably even be better for turbo set ups. Plus, less crap to have to synch.

I was thinking about dual, one coming out on each side of the bike. sweeping forward. Maybe with trumpets.

Anyhow, it really isnt hard. Only problem i've had so far is trying to find a way for a crank signal.

Good luck to you though

Couldn't something be hooked up to a Dyna ignition? Especially if you got a programmable one.

The GPZ1100 uses the same system as the GS series. I used the stock igi signal to make mine run and it went without any problems. Was very simple.

ITB setup is very easy to install if you find suitable set, no need to manufacture a manifold. ITBs should give better throttle response too, although I'm not sure how big the difference would be. Anyway, both options should work fine.

Crank signal isn't any problem with Megasquirt, at least if you are going to make it fuel only (no spark control). You can take the signal from the ignition coil negative terminal. But if you are going to control ignition too you have to make some kind trigger wheel setup. Unless you are using a Microsquirt which should be able to use stock sensors.

I came up with this schematic and it was approved by the guys on the microsquirt forum. The drawing is for a dyna S but it sould be the same for points ignition.

Hmmm.. Very nice. I used to hall effect sensors. For some reason that didnt even cross my mind. I think i would actually use the same setup because I dont have points. Mine's an 81 550

I don't think you need a dyno. MS systems hook directly to a laptop so you can do your tuning in the comfort of your own home.

Who is going to volunteer to do a "How to install FI on your GS"? :-D
