    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

You mean that a 1150 block will fit in a 1100 case

So will a 1150 block fit in a 1100 case without any milling around the cases. Will the 1100 heads bolt up too.

If so then can I bore out the cylinders to 1260cc and slide that puppy on with 78mm pistons with 18mm pins.

If so then this must be a great MOD for more power.

Say it ain't so Joe, if so Joe then I see a second engine in the near future.

I dont think so jake but Duncan is really into 1150s and he will know . I think i researched that once also looking for more CCs. Not positive though
 
yes, a GS1150 will fit on a 1100 case so this is indeed a great mod to be able to bore the cylinders to fit a 1260cc piston kit..
BUT the case will need some minor machining to make it fit though! (people who disagree have probably used brute force..)

to find out where to machine the case just dry fit the block with the edges of the protruding sleeves covered in wet paint (or whatever works) so that marks will be visible where the sleeves hit the case..
machining is best done on a separate case but as I was to lazy to take the cases apart (just like biker66! ) I just stuffed the mouths with clean rags hoping to catch all the debris.. use a vacuum cleaner before removing the rags though to prevent anything dropping into the cases..
must admit I don't recommend this sort of action though as debris could easily find their way into the crankbearings.. $$$ :(

I'll be doing this MOD by the end of 2004 after I see what happens with my current setup with a 1166 piston kit at the strip.

I'll be keeping my eye's open for a 1150 block.

Just be aware that 1229cc is as big as you can go without changing liners.
Once you change liners you need to start milling the mouths of the upper case.

Now I'm confused Duncan. Are you saying that the stock 1150 barrels are a drop in mod and you don't have to cut the cases.???? :D

I recently talked to Peter (Biker66) about the 1150 cyl. which he used before when he rode with 1197cc and he told me that the machining he did to the case was very minor to fit the barrels. If you look at his early pictures maybe you can see the job he did. And if you plan to do it you can propably get away doing like he did this year when he installed his 1295cc kit, but as he says: "I don?t recommend it"..... But the latest mod he did required a lot more machining than before. But it all paid up when he fired it up the first time :D The smile on his face......and all from brute GS-force :twisted:
 
Just to clarify:

EF cylinder in 1100 block. Just a touch up on the outer walls with the Dremel.
You can barely see the area where material was removed.

EF cylinder with 1300cc sleeves. Much more work as I did it using hand tools with the engine in the frame.
