    Here's the condition the seller advertised on those carbs:
    "They are from a '81 GS450, they will need to be cleaned. The floats are good,etc. I opened them up to check to see if the floats were damaged, and they checked out ok."

      Floats are good??? How do you figure??

      This guy should be banned unless he makes amends financially and agrees to never pull this kind of crap again.

          What the heck happened to those poor carbs?

          I've honestly never seen anything like that.

          I'm trying to imagine what someone might have put down in those carbs to cause that extreme degree of corrosion. The crushed floats are bizarre, too. The best I can come up with is that the carbs somehow filled up with water many years ago, which froze and crushed the floats, then caused the exotic corrosion. Dunno, though. Very strange. Were they buried or something?

          Hope you get your money back.

          The sad part is that someone probably would have happily purchased these carbs for parts, probably for $20 or so, if the true condition were disclosed. There's never a need to be dishonest.

          I bought a set of carbs a while back that had been in a fire and then covered in fire extinguishing foam, and got lots of useful parts out of them.

              What you have here is someone who is a liar...

              if you are willing to keep them for the money you have in them, you are being gracious to the seller.

              internally those are most likely the worst I have ever seen.

                  I've opened up hundreds of carbs. Auto and bikes and have never seen anything that bad and I've seen bad.

                    Maybe the PO took the carbs into a high atmospheric pressure zone and the the unequal pressures caused the floats to implode. I can't think of any reason why the floats would get crushed. And the carbs looked like someone filled them with sand. I hope you get your money back or karma gets the seller.

                      I needed the diaphragm from one of the carbs or I would have sent it back with the tach cable the day it got here. I didn't post to get my money back, I posted to warn others about a bad seller and let you guys laugh with me about what this guy calls "good" and "normal"

                        Surely a drop of Berrymans or Seafoam will get these sorted in no time....

                        We can't get either over here and I was always lead to believe those 2 were the panacea to all things carburretor.

                          Please give me his web address. I'd like to have a set of my carbs cleaned and re-jetted by him. By his honest descriptions of what he sells, I'm sure his work is equally as good.

                            And since you have such a big awful dog, exbellicus, you could always feed the carbs to him and see what comes out the other end. Cheaper than seafoam for sure.

                                I wouldn't put much trust in the diaphram iether. Probly split shortly after put back in service.
