    Anyone deal with Cycle-Recycle II?

Has anyone had any experience with a part shop out of Indianapolis called "Cycle-Re-Cycle II"? They have an on-line store of sorts, but I have tried phoning them and just keep keeping an answering machine.

Are these guys legit, or a bunch of wankers?

    Thanks
    Rick

if they dont answer a phone or respond to an email question i throw them in the wanker files.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

From what I've read on this board they are on the up and up, but they're just to busy to answer the phone.

lot's of info on this board about them.

Many of us (including me) have dealt successfully with Cycle Recycle II, though they have earned a reputation for being hard to get in touch with. They are a small "hole in the wall" shop in Indianapolis (usually quite busy), and the owner has forgotten more about our bikes than most of us will ever know. Also, if they make a mistake in an order they are VERY good about "making it right."

I always try to deal with them first, because of my good experiences in the past. On the other hand, I won't EVER deal with MAW (Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse) again - those jerks are a customer service nightmare, and they don't give a rat's a$$ about their customers...

Hope this is helpful! Several GSR members who live in Indy deal with them (Cycle Recycle II) regularly.

        Regards,

          Thanks guys for the input.

I just now got through on the phone and talked to a very helpful lady whose attitude confirmed what you said: very professional, customer-oriented response. Got everything straightened away pronto.

Definitely NOT in the wanker file.

Their web site is an eyesore, but CRC2 is legit.

They're located about 25 minutes from my house, which has come in very handy more times than I can remember. Rob and his gang have pulled off some amazing feats of parts findery for me.

CRC-II is one of the rattiest looking stores you'll ever be in. There is no apparent organization. It looks and feels low-rent. But they know an amazing amount about bikes, including ours, and they are honest. Good people, but different.

I ordered a couple gaskets through them not too long ago, no problems here.

So its like stepping into most of our garages? LOL

I ordered Jets from them a while back and got them quick. I was impressed to have 4 little jets arrive in a ziplock bag, inside of a flat rate box, with packing material. I really did pay the correct shipping which I was leary of.

I was actually coming here to make a post just now as a pre order report. I just ordered some goodies from them should have them in a couple of days, I hate waiting....

i had a very bad experience with cycle re cycle II. They are probably knowledgeable and good in person, but they are no where close to the professionalism that z1 enterprises displays dealing with customers from across the US. I dont want to rip them entirely because I know there are some satisfied customers out there. Anyway, heres my story...

Ive dealt with them twice and I should have learned my lesson from the first time. This was over 3 years ago so i wont dig too far into the memory bank to straighten all the details, but my main complaints were :
-being charged for items that were not in stock
-not telling me about it untill I follow up several weeks later
                    -Sending me the wrong parts
                    -overcharging me for certain items
-But the major issue was the customer service really rubbed me the wrong way. Rude and very condescending. They were very difficult to work with and I was blatently lied to. And it just ticks me off when a company has already charged you, has your info, and you have nothing on them... hell you dont even have your parts. You just feel like you are at a total disadvantage...in the end, they were totally unapologetic and I really felt that they couldn't care less about my business.

In their defense, i think it was at a time they were very busy, were trying to expand their internet business, and perhaps had a few bad hires that I hope for their own sake, are no longer there. Still its no excuse in my book and I will NEVER do business with them again.

In all sincerity, im not saying you shouldn't do business with them because I have chosen not to, but just watch your back and dont assume anything. follow up, track everything, and be very thorough. Just my 2 cents...

I've had mixed experiences with CRC. The first order went with out a hitch, the last order was a nightmare. Complete lack of communication on their part. After their poor service, I really have no compelling reason to shop there. I'd rather deal with Jeff at Z1 enterprises. He is easy to contact via PM, email or on the phone. Knows what he is talking about and his service is super fast. For items he doesn't sell, I use Dennis Kirk or Motorcycle Superstore.

I too had a similar experience with them.
I was charged for a part that I did not receive in a reasonable amount of time, i was only told that the item was not in stock when I followed up. I also delt with them in person and I was treated decent. But, the online experience was inexcusable and I won`t shop there again.

Here's a picture of their storefront. I've never had to deal with them on-line, I just ride down and get what I need. They have helped me alot with a little part or piece here and there.

I have. And I won't in the future. They're very low tech, they processed my order but never bothered shipping it until I reminded them that I bought from them. They don't respond to email until really late. When I FINALLY got through on the phone to talk to them, they "put me on hold" (put the receiver on the table) for the tech guy to take the call. I wouldn't categorize them as wankers or thieves, IMO they handle their business like it was 1975.

                            Not recommended.

In most cases that would be an advantage ... not a disadvantage, hehe! Face to face or real person phone to real person phone contact ... and let's not forget that Rob (the owner) has forgotten more about your GS than you'll ever know. THAT'S when dealing with them is advantageous ... when you need an obscure part only he remembers (and can get ahold of). The rest of it is a minor inconvenience, in my experience. Highly recommended (but I understand your frustrations in this "I expect everything immediately" world we now live in)!
