Set the fuel level and used my new Motion Pro Sync Pro to synchronize my carbs...Fun

Got new battery in and carbs off the Eliminator. Gas was POURING out of the left vent tube when it ran. I took off the airbox cover and about 2 cups of gas poured out. I've never seen so much gas in places it's not supposed to be. The needles were very stuck. Next step: cleaning them and the seats.

Removed a 70's/80's 5th wheel from the bed of my 'mates' F350 dually piece by piece to start the process of rebuilding and fitting it to his 2005 F350 dually.

It was so old that most of the old fasteners either broke in the process of impacting them apart or had to be cut off with a cutting torch. The old mounting brackets were welded and bolted to some old decrepit looking piece of 2x4 steel tubing so we cut the four mounting brackets off of it using the torch, ground off all the slag and rust and prepped them to be welded to the new section of tubing he brought for that purpose. Cut in half a new 10 ft section of 2x4 tubing, clamped the four previously prepared brackets to the ends, squared them up and welded them on. I will say that welding it together was the easiest part, it's all the work getting to that point that killed the better part of 3-1/2 hours this evening.

Tomorrow evening we'll start bolting it all back together then drill new holes in the bed so it can be bolted down the frame; then he gets to pick up the used 30 ft travel trailer he just bought. I sure hope my welds are up to standard or it's going to be a thrill chasing it from one side of the highway to the other when it lets go...

He ran two out of the twelve sides we welded.

With somewhere around 40" worth of welds, it ain't going anywhere soon.

More work on the 5th wheel hitch.

Need one more piece of channel and its finished.

When you make the perfect weld, it's a beautiful thing... (too bad they're not all like that)

Welded the last piece of channel in place then drilled all the mounting holes we had measured from the existing mounting holes in the bed. Dropped the 5th wheel 'base' on the pickup bed and all the holes lined up. What's up with that?

It's too bad the fools who originally mounted a fifth wheel in the truck only had attached two out of the eight bolts to the frame as should have done with ALL the bolts.

I'm getting sick and tired of so called 'professionals' who are nothing more than 'hacks' that get paid. Bozo's the lot of them.

Be very careful out there Pete, they're all around us. They're even allowed to breed.
It was just my way of ranting. Don't care if the install it looks like crap, it just needs to be done correctly.

By the way, my friend just picked up 3 meters of 6.3mm flat stock in order to make all new brackets for mounting it correctly.

Indeed they are Dale, and yes they do breed! Very scary...

I must agree... do the job right or don't do it at all!
