What great pics! Looks like quite a nice bike you have there. I always get stressed trucking/trailering bikes, too. Some people aren't bothered by it at all, but it definitely nerves me out. Always a good feeling when it's over!

Thanks to my son Wayne, the pictures came out great, plus he took most of them on the fly!

Just Checkin In
So it's been some time, and I have had a chance to get over passing my dreams on to others that can see them through. Any reports on the GS or the GT's? It warms my heart to know they will be back on the road once again. I had six bikes in the stalls when I went down, and I let one go to a local who beat the hell out of it. Didn't want that to happen again. Have fun guys, and keep the rubber on the road.

Mark, I have been gathering parts for it.
picked up a battery, ordered gaskets, carb o-rings, air filter, fork seals, caliper seals and other misc bits and pieces. I bought a good used center stand to paint.
but most importantly looking for that nearly new exhaust system.
I won't be in a rush to get it done, but I would like soon to have it up and running before ordering new tires and such. then I will ride it while going through the '82 gs including repainting it with the factory colors.
so many projects, so little time...
p.s. drained the carbs, put fresh gas in it, hit the start button and it tried to stay running. (had to try)

I wish I could say that I have been working on them but all of a sudden at the beginning of July my summer schedule filled up very quick. I am hoping that this fall will slow down a little.
I pulled the carbs off of both bikes and that is as far as I have got. Hopefully over the next few weeks (months?) I will pull the carbs apart and clean them and then pull the engine and start the rebuild on that.

Went through the bike from front to rear. It had a burnt valve and when I went to reassemble it, the carbs were all crudded up from sitting. So I took them off, cleaned them up again and then the skunk came along, so there it sat until today.

Sounded great, except that noise right at the beginning. Not exactly a backfire, mind you...just can't put my finger on it.
Nice job getting the ol' gal ready to go again. Great story.
