    To the coast and back

I got tired of all the lame excuses my local GSers used to not go riding, so my buddy and I conned our wives into a ride to Pacific City and the Rusty Pelican brewpub, which is right on the beach.

We took the back way down the Nestucca River road, which started out good, then deteriorated. We successfully dodged rain and took a break

Just after that, it started to rain. Then, the NRR turned to crap as we found the culvert project was not done and there was gravel, puddles, torn up pavement and potholes. My bike's still dirty and my wife's jacket looks like she surfed a mudslide.

Then, inexplicably, it was sunny and nice at the beach

It was so nice we didn't want to leave, but Tom had to be somewhere

So we split, took the coast scenic route and flew back in Hwy 6. And I mean flew. While I barely exceed the speed limit, drivers actually yielded the road before I got to them. Closer to town, we took a more steady approach due to the high volume of LEOs out.

We split up west of town, and my wife and I got pummeled by a rain shower for the last 5 miles. When we got home, my son informed me we missed thunder, lightning, hail and a torrential downpour.

It was a good ride, all in all. Sorry I didn't get more pics. I need to go clean my bike.

Sounds like a standard day in the North West .
Looked like a nice ride except for the liquid sunshine.

      Big T-

We are all full of lame excuses, arent' we? It seems like every weekend this summer I've either been buried with work or buried with home repairs. Just got the shop swamped out this weekend so I could get to the leaking forks on my kat...sure wish I'd a been able to meet you out at the Pelican for some of that gooooooood cream ale.

      Maybe next year?

How about this weekend? I wouldn't go back over the NRR until the construction is finished, and FR 99 to Windy Ridge is still closed, but there are other options.

Ok, I hate to do this, but....

On my list for this weekend:
-Replace Hot Water Heater that died last weekend
-Patch hole in wall from installing electric heaters last weekend
-Patch leaky spot in roof that I fixed last winter temporarily
          -Finish swamping out garage

Sorry, Big T. If you go, post some pics!
