Hey, making progress. About 980 miles down, in 3+ days, about 1400 to go.

Was mentioned about state forrest and national land, and you said "looking for place for sleeping bag". ... might you be setting up tarp over bike on trailer to make something of tent....?

No, not yet Dale, I don't know what they were thinking.. Opinions vary. I have had the personal experience of driving the 'two wheeled tow vehicle' of this rig for over a thousand miles and plan on finishing the journey, the steering is heavy at slow speeds but after I get rolling it's not too bad.

That's an idea I haven't considered yet, thanks. I am staying close to the loaded trailer at re
st areas on I80 so I get there soon.

Does the bike appear to have a reasonable amount of power for what you asking it to do? What I'm getting at is, do you think you have power to get you through the the mountains without overworking the clutch? As it is your setup appears to be around 1,200Lbs.

I happened upon this thread just recently and couldn't be more blown away by it. In-frigging-credible!!!!!
I wish you the best of luck getting that rig over the mountains and sincerely hope the rest of your adventure is incident free.
              GOOD LUCK and SAFE Travels.
Common sense has become so uncommon that I consider it a super power.

              Present Stable includes:
              '74 GT750 Resto-mod I've owned since '79
              '83 GS1100E (The best E I've ever enjoyed, Joe Nardy's former bike)
              '82 GS1100G Resto project

                  Yes Dale,
I l'll just keep the rpm's up and choose the right gears, which is what I've been doing so far and has been working great. The drive chain is the issue,I'm keeping it lubed and adjusted but it's the original from 1982...
I look forward to installing a new set as soon after I get back as I can.

Bill's broken down in Rock Springs Wyoming. His R/R doesn't appear to be working correctly. He was given a spare Honda R/R SH-678C-13 to take along which, according to the wiring diagram I just downloaded, should work with a permanent magnet alternator. He may need someone's assistance if this doesn't work out.

I replaced the regulator with the spare that I received from 'Mista M' back in Detroit,it's running well now.
The Wifi connections I had at state rest areas have been without data so I couldn't get onto the forum and update,I had text and telephone though.I just woke up at the first state rest area in Utah going West on 80,the area is called Echo.
I'm getting back on the road again now
